摘要:
Negatives, and laminates containing negatives, for exposing liquid photopolymers in UV flexographic plate making are created by printing opaque images directly onto the protective or release cover films used in plate making processes. Combining negatives and cover films in this way eliminates two layers and two interfaces in the exposure process, reducing cost and improving quality. By bringing the negative images as close as possible to the liquid photopolymer, printed dots of “digital quality” are created.

Disclosed are processes for sterilization of cyanoacrylate adhesive compositions; the compositions, comprising 2-cyanoacrylate ester monomers, so produced and a method for assaying the effectiveness of the sterilization process. A typical process comprises heating the adhesive composition to from about 70° C. to about 140° C. for an effective amount of time. The effectiveness of a process can be assayed by disposing bacterial spores in the cyanoacrylate monomer, exposing the composition to a dry heat sterilization process, transferring the cyanoacrylate composition to a sterile aldose solution, transferring and exposing the sample to a nutrient medium which supports germination and growth of viable spores, incubating the samples, and determining the presence or absence of growth.

The invention relates to reactive monomers containing 2-cyanopenta-2,4-dienoate and methacrylic or acrylic double bonds in their molecules. The reactive monomers are easily polymerizable in a variety of ways. The polymerized reactive monomers can form strong adhesive bonds between a variety of substrates. The adhesive bonds are water and humidity resistant, heat resistant, impact and peel resistant and can sustain large loads and stresses. The polymerized reactive monomers are applicable as structural and industrial adhesives, medical and surgical adhesives and optical fibre coatings, and can be used in the manufacture of positive or negative photo or electron beam resists.

An indexing image for craft stamps that is opaque to the eye but transparent to UV light is produced by printing a wavelength-specific solvent-based ink on the stamp substrate. This eliminates the step of printing a separate adhesive-backed indexing image sheet and applying it to the substrate,

A laminate of an artificial nail bound to a natural nail with a layer of a cyanoacrylate adhesive formulation containing a thickener, a stabilizer, and a plasticizer is as strong and durable as similar laminates but is flexible and pliable enough to bend without cracking.

This disclosure relates to a photosensitive composition useful in preparing water-developable, relief printing plates and other photosensitive articles. The compositions comprise an unsaturated polyurethane pre-polymer, which is the reaction product of at least one polyether diol, at least one aliphatic diisocyanate, at least one hydroxyl-functionalized mono-, di- and tri-(meth)acrylate, and a particular photoinitiator. The resulting photosensitive resin compositions have reduced rates and levels of yellowing if subjected to additional UV-light or sunlight after processing.
