摘要: The invention is directed to an annular vessel for holding radioactive soions which contain solids. The vessel has an inclined bottom and a discharge at the lowest point of the vessel. A plurality of pulsators charged with air are mounted in the ring-shaped interior of the vessel so as to extend into the solution. The pulsators operate to completely and evenly discharge the undissolved solids out of the vessel with the flow of solution and to prevent sedimentation. At their bottom ends, the pulsators have respective outlet nozzles which are arranged parallelly to the vessel bottom and are directed toward the lowest point thereof.

摘要: The invention is directed to an arrangement for transferring irradiated f rods from a trough-shaped receptacle into a canister intended for terminal storage. The canister is docked at a pass-through opening formed in a partition wall of a nuclear facility. The arrangement includes a trough-shaped insert which is movable out of the terminal storage canister while empty and through the pass-through opening into the trough-shaped receptacle whereat it is filled with the irradiated fuel rods and then returned back through the opening and into the terminal storage canister. In this way, and with little effort, a transfer of fuel rods is achieved without components disposed between the receptacle and canister becoming contaminated by radioactive particles.

摘要: The invention is directed to a lock system for permitting objects to be ped from a contaminated chamber into a container which is disposed in a contamination-free chamber and docked to the lock system. The lock system of the invention includes a displaceable insert mounted on a partition wall separating the chambers. The insert is in the form of a round disc rotatable about its center point. The disc includes lock openings having different cross sections which are arranged on a circle concentric to the center of the disc. The lock system of the invention permits objects of different shape and size to be passed through the lock along only one removal path.

摘要: The invention relates to an apparatus for handling a fuel element skeletonf an irradiated nuclear reactor fuel element from which the fuel rods have been removed. The fuel element skeleton is placed horizontally in a compacting shaft of a ram-type press in order to obtain a simple and reliable compaction of the skeleton. After the compacting shaft is closed, the fuel element skeleton is compacted against a press base. The compacted fuel element skeleton is pushed out of the compacting shaft and into a transportable transfer shaft. The loaded transfer shaft is removed from the ram-type press and transported away to a transfer loading location.

摘要: An assembly for remotely handling an electrical plug connector, including aottom block, including a crane hook attachable to a crane, a first plug member fixed to the bottom block and electrically connectable to a power supply, a second plug member electrically connected to a load, a retaining device retaining the second plug member such that electrical coupling and decoupling between the first and the second plug member can be effected by mere movement of the bottom block in the horizontal and the vertical plane. When the first and second plug members are vertically aligned, coupling and decoupling can be effected by mere lowering and raising of the bottom block. The retaining device has parallel prongs with recessed surface areas to hold the second plug member, alternatively, in a locking position and a withdrawing position. The second plug member has a spherical thickened contour portion acting as a pivot enabling it to swing into alignment with the first plug member. The second plug member can be moved between the locking and the withdrawing positions by a horizontal shifting motion of the bottom block. The second plug member can be removed from the retaining device when in the withdrawing position but not when in the locking position. When the second plug member is being removed, the crane hook is free to grasp an eye of an operational equipment.

摘要: The crane operated lifting apparatus for safely gripping and holding obje (11) includes a plurality of movable pawls (3) which enter into a groove, aperture, or bore (14) of an object (11) which is to be transported. To move the pawls (3), a driving member (4) is provided which is displaceable in a basic body (1). The lifting apparatus also includes comprises two holding members (2,5) the first of which is firmly attached to the basic body (1) while the second one is connected to the driving member (4) for a tilting or pivoting motion. Thus, the hook of a crane may selectively grasp either one of the two holding members (2,5) or both of them (2,5) together, and it may also selectively swing the second holding member, (5). In this manner it is possible to have all the functions, such as locking, unlocking, and conveying, accomplished by the hook of a crane alone.

摘要: A method and an apparatus for loading containers with individual fuel rodsr fuel-rod sections of irradiated nuclear reactor fuel elements are disclosed. In order to ensure maximum safety, cleanliness and close packing when loading the containers, the fuel rods or fuel-rod sections are horizontally front-loaded into the container which is horizontally positioned. The loading aperture is located as closely as possible to the upper inner periphery of the container. Following their insertion, the fuel rods or fuel-rod sections will drop onto the inner wall surface of the container or onto the already existing pile of previously loaded fuel rods or fuel-rod sections. The container for loading with such a method has a loading aperture in the end wall thereof arranged close to the inner periphery thereof for insertion of the fuel rods or fuel-rod sections. The apparatus for loading containers in accordance with the method disclosed includes a loading trough which is insertable into a loading aperture in the container and serves to load the fuel rods or fuel-rod sections. The loading trough is capable of being rotated about its longitudinal axis whereupon the fuel rod or fuel-rod section drops down.

摘要: Suction molds used in the suction removal process must first be prepared ore they can receive vitrified radioactive waste materials. A method is disclosed for preparing the suction mold which includes a suction pipe welded into the base of the mold with a desired-break location whereat the suction pipe is broken off during the suction removal process. An evacuation stub is mounted in the mouth of the suction pipe and communicates with the interior of the mold. The method of the invention includes evacuating the mold through the evacuation stub and then heating the mold to remove moisture and organic impurities. The mold is then filled with a dry inert gas and the evacuation stub is cleaned. The mold is then evacuated to a predetermined residual pressure. Thereafter, the evacuation stub is cold-press welded so as to close off the interior of the mold from the ambient.
