摘要： An apparatus for removing acid gas and fly ash from hot flue gas includes a housing containing a perforated plate extending thereacross for holding a cool bed of particulate scrubbing material. First means are provided for passing the hot flue gas through the cool bed for capturing the fly ash and causing condensation and removal of the acid gas by formation of a crust of solid reaction product on the particles. After condensation and reaction ceases, agitation means remove the crust from the particles and a second means passes a gas through the bed to entrain and remove the crust from the housing. Water spray means or a third means for passing a cool gas through the bed are provided for cooling the bed to a temperature below the dew point of the flue gas.

摘要： An electrostatic precipitator having improved collection efficiency for suspended particles having either high or low electrical resistivities is provided. The precipitator utilizes porous collecting surfaces which permit passage of gas while retaining suspended particles and means are provided to create an electrostatic field causing the particles to migrate toward the collecting surfaces. According to the invention, only a portion of the inlet gas flow to the precipitator, sufficient to provide aerodynamic forces to facilitate adherence of the particles to the collecting surface, is drawn through the porous collecting surfaces with the remainder of the gas flow being essentially parallel to such surfaces. The two gas streams are separately withdrawn and may be combined to provide a clean gas effluent. The invention also provides an improved method for removing suspended particles from gases by electrical precipitation.

摘要： There is disclosed a photoelectric intrusion detector comprising a transmitter unit and a receiver unit. Each unit includes a collimating lens and a mirror adjustable about two axes of rotation. The detector employs an infrared beam invisible to the human eye and the mirror of each unit is positioned behind a dark red window, making it extremely difficult to ascertain beam direction. Jamming of the system is prevented by utilizing a pulsed, rather than a steady, beam. This also makes the system substantially insensitive to ambient light. There is also disclosed means for rapid alignment upon installation by method of an external visible light source attachable to each unit in turn, followed by adjustment of the mirror of the other unit.

The cover includes a hole for receiving a bolt. The threaded bore aligns with the hole in the cover so a bolt can engage the threaded bore to secure the cover to the bracket.

摘要： In certain embodiments, the present invention provides flat panel or planar lamps suitable to be placed in a body illuminating device and emitting fluorescent, ultraviolet radiation such that a person or user may be exposed to electromagnetic radiation suitable for tanning. In preferred embodiments, the invention includes a tanning device or system comprising at least one fluorescent, ultraviolet emitting planar lamp, and in certain embodiments the system uses an array of fluorescent, ultraviolet emitting planar lamps. In certain preferred embodiments, the lamp comprises at least one planar surface made of a material substantially transparent to ultraviolet radiation. A fluorescent or phosphor material is applied to the planar surface. An envelop is hermetically sealed over the planar surface to define a sealed volume containing the fluorescent material. A gas is dispersed within the volume, wherein the gas interacts with the fluorescent material when electrically excited to emit ultraviolet radiation.

摘要： A packaging system is disclosed for a number of elongate tubular lamps. The lamps are oriented along a longitudinal axis and each have a first end opposite a second end along the axis. A first spacer is provided to engage a first end of each of the lamps and maintain spacing therebetween. Similarly, a second spacer engages a second end of each of the lamps to maintain spacing therebetween. A third spacer is positioned between the first and second spacers and includes a first wall defining a first number of openings and second wall defining a second number of openings. The first and second openings are paired to define a number of passages each receiving a corresponding one of the lamps therethrough. The first, second, and third spacers cooperate to provide a packagable lamp set. Moreover, the third spacer includes a handle graspable from a top aspect of the set to lift and carry it.

摘要： The present invention provides an apparatus for measuring the pressure drop which occurs between two sides of an orifice plate attached to a filter bag. The apparatus includes a chamber with an orifice plate at one end and a pair of tubular pressure taps located on either side of the orifice plate whereby one tap is located on the upstream side of the orifice plate and the other is located at the downstream side. Both taps have a particular location and configuration to avoid clogging whenever the bags are cleaned. The apparatus is used in a sequentially timed and controlled system for measuring and recording bag performance of many bags in a baghouse. The system is formed by attaching the above apparatus to a plurality of bags in a baghouse and connecting the pressure taps from each apparatus to a sequentially activated and controlled valve system which individually measures the pressure drop at each bag through the use of a single differential pressure-measuring device. The controlled valve system also allows purge gas to pass through the taps while isolating the pressure-measuring device from the taps through which the purged gas is passing. The system also includes a baghouse temperature sensor, a baghouse pressure drop measuring device and a recording device so that individual bag flow and fabric drag can be calculated and recorded.

摘要： An automatic shut-off switch system for the ignition circuit of vehicles such as snowmobiles is provided wherein the ignition circuit includes a first switch, adjacent the carburetor throttle and in operative engagement therewith, which first switch is normally closed when the engine is at idle speeds and open when the engine is at running speed and a second switch electrically parallel to said first switch and operatively joined to the manually operated throttle control means remote from said throttle. The second switch is open at engine idle speeds and closed by the manual throttle control during running speeds so that if the throttle sticks in the open position the ignition circuit will be opened upon release of the manually operated throttle control means.
