The touch screen display for receiving at least one stimulus via the electronic connection to the control unit.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for ranging finding of signal transmitting devices is provided. The method of signal reception is digitally based only and does not require receivers that are analog measurement devices. Ranging can be achieved using a single pulse emitting device operating in range spaced relation with a minimum of a single signal transmitter and a single digital receiver and processing circuitry. In general a plurality of transmitting pulsed emitters may be ranged and positioned virtually simultaneously in 3-dimensions (XYZ coordinates) using a configuration of a plurality of digital receivers arranged in any fixed 3-dimensional configuration. Applications may involve at least one single transmitter to receiver design to determine range, or at least one transmitted reflecting signal off from an object to determine range.
Abstract:
A device using a low-cost plastic curved mirror and several combinations of methods for reducing aberrations to improve a real image projection system is provided, so as to reduce ghost and astigmatism phenomenon. The real image projection system includes a curved mirror having two different optical surfaces of revolution, one on a convex surface and the other on a concave surface. The real image projection system may include at least a curved reflector positioned in a tilted configuration, and an optical axis of the reflector does not coincide with a viewing axis. A beampath between a target source and the curved reflector neither passes through a beamsplitter nor is reflected thereby. The real image projection system may further include a circular polarizer for circularly polarizing a light beam in a primary light path between the mirror and the real image, eliminating ghost image caused by outside light sources.
Abstract:
An aerial projection system and method having a housing for positioning low cost optical elements capable of generating a three dimensional aerial images at video rates without reflected artifacts or visible display of the display screen. A method for generating the display images is based on a set of rules that eliminate boundary transgressions and maximizes the illusion of a three dimensional aerial image. An optional second display is a transparent imaging panel that acts selectively as a light valve, as a display platform for special effects or for providing the appearance of linear motion towards or away from the observer. The aerial projection system includes a plastic spherical mirror having a plastic part of at least the following descriptions: mirror surface of sufficient sphericity supported by wall structures, of a plastic material formulation, excellent optical grade finish, has a reflective metal coating and a protective overcoat.
Abstract:
A system and method for selling and/or dispensing consumer products from a vending or transactional-based machine is disclosed. The vending or transactional-based machine comprises an aerial display device that displays an aerial image designed to attract the attention of potential consumers and sell advertising, special promotions or certain products. Once a consumer begins to interact with the vending machine, demographic data is collected or correlated with the product purchased or dispensed. The consumer can initiate and conclude a purchase by merely pointing at the desired product. A mechanism is provided that accepts payment by currency, credit card or electronically.
Abstract:
A wireless sensor receiver module for an alarm and/or event reporting system having the capability of monitoring the operational integrity of associated wireless receiver circuitry relative to RF sensor transmissions. A receiver module supervisory timer is reset with the receipt of each sensor transmission, whether an event or supervisory transmission. If sensor transmissions are not received within a supervised receiver time period determined as a function of the number of system sensors, the receiver module communicates a receiver failure condition to the system controller. Noise monitoring circuitry separately monitors the transmissions to enhance the confidence in a receiver failure determination or adjust the period of the receiver module supervisory timer.
Abstract:
A detection system and method are capable of reducing the occurrence of false alarms and detection failures by compensating for variations in the amplitude of a detection signal generated by a PIR sensor. An adaptive threshold can be used that varies according to ambient temperature of the detection area and the frequency of the detection signal. Comparison of the detection signal to the adaptive threshold allows compensation for temperature- and/or frequency-induced variations in detection signal amplitude. The adaptive threshold can be configured for standard detection area conditions or calibrated for conditions at the installation site. Relative measurement and adaptive sampling techniques also can be used to compensate for the presence of low frequency shifts in the detection signal. Such techniques can provide an accurate representation of signal amplitude relative to a threshold amplitude despite differences in absolute signal magnitude. The use of an adaptive sampling rate that increases with the onset of a potential intruder event contributes to power conservation in the detector.
Abstract:
An active, relatively high gain, low power consuming band pass filter circuit centered at approximately 6 KHZ and having a pass band of 100-200 HZ. In a disclosed glass breakage sensor, the filter couples sensed ambient sounds of breaking glass to associated detection, driver and annunciator means. Signals of appropriate duration and frequencies indicative of breaking glass are thereby monitorable to define and induce an alarm condition within a security system.
Abstract:
A family of serially programmable integrated circuit transmitters for use in various sensor and user data input transmitters of a short-range radio frequency linked security system. Each transmitter transmits two bits of data for each data frame of a pulse position encoded message format with multiples of each message being transmitted with each transmission, the number of messages depending upon the type of message. Each user data input transmitter includes means for decoding keyboard entered data, re-circulating means for storing the user entered data and programmed system parameters and means for time partitioning intra and inter-message transmissions. Each sensor transmitter includes means for storing uniquely programmed system preconditioning parameters, means for sensing and verifying alarm conditions and means for time partitioning intra and inter-message transmissions. A hand-held programming unit permits the programming of each user data input and sensor transmitter with a variety of system pre-conditioning parameters to identify the transmitter to a system controller and the type of transducer coupled to the sensor transmitter.
