摘要： A seatbelt retractor has a spool. An energy absorption mechanism absorbs energy from the spool during seatbelt protraction. The energy absorption mechanism has at least a first portion for a relatively high rate of energy absorption and preferably a second portion for a relatively low rate of energy absorption. The seatbelt retractor has an outer sheath cast, molded, coated or otherwise bonded to and encircling a portion of the external surface of the first portion or the second portion which upon a sufficient exposure to rotational energy breaks the bond between the first portion or the second portion and the outer sheath.

摘要： An airbag inflator has a variable gas flow throttle disposed in a gas flow path. The throttle has at least one gas passageway through a base portion thereof. A tab extends from the base portion and is bendable towards the base portion by a selected amount of gas pressure to closes or at least partially close the gas passageway. The tab may have another gas passageway therethrough.

摘要： An inflator has a sealed vessel for containing compressed gas. The inflator has an axis. The vessel has a gas outlet passageway. The inflator has an elongated sealing cap closure with an internal chamber portion open to the compressed gas and sealed vessel to seal the opening of the gas outlet passageway. The elongated sealing cap is coaxial with the inflator. When a triggering device is activated it exerts a force against the elongated sealing cap closure in a direction substantially parallel to the axis of the inflator that causes the elongated sealing cap closure to fail and allows gas to escape from the vessel.

摘要： A seat belt retractor has a winding shaft to wind a seat belt. A motive spring pretensions the winding shaft in the winding direction of the seat belt. An electric motor provides a torque that can be transmitted to the motive spring to change the spring force. A switch coupling transmits the torque of the electric motor drive to the winding shaft to retract the seat belt. To transmit the torque, a drive wheel, which is rotatably mounted on a shaft non-rotatably and coaxially connected to the winding shaft and which is non-rotatably connected to an outer spring end of the motive spring by a rigid rotational connection. A first active surface of the coupling is movably mounted against a restoring force to a component that is securely connected to the rigid rotational connection and rotatable around the shaft. A second active surface of the coupling is non-rotatably connected to the shaft.
