Abstract: A seat belt pretensioner for a seat belt device in a vehicle, the pretensioner including a frame, a ball housing attached to the frame and a drive wheel located within the ball housing. A spool is connected to the drive wheel and is fixed to one end of a seat belt webbing so that the webbing may be wound around the spool. The pretensioner further includes a pipe connected to the ball housing and a gas generator connected to the pipe. At least one power transmission element is carried in the pipe and is driven by gas provided from the gas generator to contact the drive wheel and rotate the spool to retract the seat belt. A seal member is located between the at least one power transmission element and the gas generator. The seal member is sized to plug the pipe at an inlet to the ball housing.

Abstract: A seatbelt tensioner for a seat belt retractor, having a pipe (1) with a tensioner drive wheel. A pyrotechnical gas generator (10), a piston (3), and at least one mass body (4) in the pipe (1), wherein the at least one mass body (4) is drivable by the pressure generable by the gas generator (10) and acting on the piston (3) between the gas generator (10) and a mass body (4), and which can be made to mesh in a force-transmitting manner with the tensioner drive wheel, thus driving a belt shaft of the seat belt retractor in a belt tensioning direction. The pipe (1) has a receiving section (5) with a first inner diameter (2), in which the piston (3) in its initial state is arranged with an initial-state outer diameter (8) prior to the ignition of the gas generator (10). The pipe (1) has a guide section (6) which adjoins the receiving section (5) and which has a second inner diameter (7). The second inner diameter (7) is smaller than the first inner diameter (2) and smaller than the initial-state outer diameter (8) of the piston (3).

Abstract: In a method of producing a tubular structure for a gas generator, a tubular body is positioned relative to a forming device having inner and outer tools, which are moved relative to an end portion of the tubular body until an inner circumferential surface of a neck of the end portion rests against a support surface of the inner tool to reduce a diameter of the end portion by a tool contour of the outer tool and thereby form a shoulder. The outer tool is held in position upon the end portion and the neck inner circumferential surface is calibrated by a calibrating surface on a calibrating member of the inner tool while an outer circumferential surface of the neck is supported by the outer tool, as the inner tool is removed from the end portion. The outer tool is then removed from the end portion of the tubular body.

Abstract: When disassembling after a gas being supplied into a tube member, the gas in the tube member is discharged before the tube member and a moving member become separable. In a webbing take-up device, a cover plate cannot be removed from a frame and thereafter a cylinder and a piston inside the cylinder cannot be separated before covering of a fixing screw with a covering section of a plate being released by removing a screw from an exhaust port of the cylinder and by removing the plate from the cylinder. Thus, after a high-pressure gas being supplied into the cylinder, the high-pressure gas inside the cylinder can surely be discharged by removing the plate from the cylinder and the exhaust port is opened by the screw before the cylinder and the piston being separated.

Abstract: A ballistic powered inertial reel device comprises an inertia unit and a ballistic powered unit. The inertia unit includes a reel shaft and a webbing wound on the reel shaft. A reel lock has a disengaged orientation with the reel shaft during normal operation and an engaged orientation to prevent rotation of the reel shaft during an emergency. A control dog drives the reel lock. A geared cam rotates to drive a lock rod which operates against the control dog to drive the reel lock into the engaged orientation. The ballistic powered unit comprises a flywheel coupled to the geared cam. A piston drives the flywheel and a rewind spring couples the flywheel to the reel shaft. Actuation of the piston rotates the flywheel to cause the rewind spring to rotate the reel shaft to rewind the webbing and rotate the geared cam to lock the reel lock.

Abstract: A tensioning drive for a safely belt device. The tensioning drive includes a gas generator, a drive wheel and a supply pipe which connects the gas generator and the drive wheel. A plurality of pushing members is included in the supply pipe. The pushing members are accelerated after the gas generator has been activated. The pushing members drive the drive wheel, and at least one of the pushing members completely or at least partially seals the supply pipe.
