    摘要: A modular folding seat for use in vehicles is provided. The seat includes a base securable to the vehicle; a backrest pivotally connected to the base, and can include a removable backrest panel mounted to the backrest. The base or the backrest includes a pair of outwardly extending bosses disposed on opposite sides that are rotatably engageable within recesses disposed in the other one of the base or backrest. The bosses are held within the recesses by a pair of engagement members disposed adjacent or in each recess. The engagement members are capable of being deflected to a non-securing position whereby the bosses can be inserted into or withdrawn from the recesses to assemble or disengage the backrest to or from the base. A plurality of regions of engagement between the base and backrest keep the backrest from over rotating beyond a fully upright position and resist downward folding of the backrest when in the upright position. Another engagement region can be provided to park the backrest in a downwardly folded position.

    摘要: A motorcycle seat having a backrest that is angularly adjustable, height adjustable and removable, all without requiring any tool. The backrest is mounted by a bracket to a pivot bracket carried by a frame of a backrest adjustment assembly all of which are disposed below the surface of the seat cushion. The assembly has a prime mover coupled to the frame and pivot bracket and communicates by cable with an actuator allowing selective angular backrest adjustment. The prime mover preferably is a gas cylinder, such as a rigid-in-compression gas spring, or a ball screw. The mounting bracket is pivotally coupled to the pivot bracket and has a coil spring between brackets which urges the mounting bracket rearwardly against the pivot bracket permitting the backrest to be manually urged forwardly to permit entry or exit from the seat and returning to its adjusted position when released. The mounting bracket has a pocket into which a post of the backrest is received and a retaining leaf which engages the post to retain it. The leaf can be urged away from the pocket to remove the post and backrest. A backrest cushion is mounted by a slide to the post and uses a reciprocable spring biased shaft which rides in a detent slot in the post enabling the height of the cushion to be adjusted.

One method includes providing a clamping mold with i) a surface having at least one die space and ii) at least one clamp having at least one punch tip located in a punch body; providing a strip of thermoplastic material having a softening temperature and a melting temperature; heating the strip of thermoplastic material to a working temperature higher than the softening temperature and lower than the melting temperature; placing the strip of thermoplastic material in the clamping mold and against the surface and over the at least one die space; forming the strip of thermoplastic material by closing the at least one clamp so as to a) form the strip of thermoplastic material with the at least one clamp and b) pierce the strip of thermoplastic material with the at least one punch tip, in one step; cooling the strip of thermoplastic material to a removal temperature lower than the softening temperature; opening the at least one clamp; and removing the strip of thermoplastic material from the clamping mold. The methods provide advantages in that the time required to form the strip of thermoplastic material is reduced, the need for expensive injection molding equipment is obviated and the configuration of the resultant rings can be quickly modified to permit flexible manufacturing by simply changing the configuration of the clamping mold.

    摘要: A seat suspension system for supporting a seat support member on a base member includes support arms which cooperate with a spring suspension so as to suspend loads imposed on the seat. The support arms are connected to one of the seat support member and base member by a support mechanism. A cam element acts upon at least one of the seat support member and the base member and presents a cam surface offering a resistance to the motion of the accompanying cam follower which varies depending upon the height of the seat support member. The system preferably includes a height adjust mechanism for adjusting the unloaded distance between the seat support member and the base member. The height adjust mechanism may be either a ratchet mechanism which is operated by lifting the seat support member, or a spring assisted mechanism which is operable independently of the main suspension springs and which automatically biases an unloaded seat support member upwardly.

    摘要: A vehicle seat frame assembly comprises a stationary support frame having two laterally spaced-apart side support plates attachable to a vehicle and on which is mounted a vertically movable seat frame which comprises a horizontal seat portion and a vertical backrest portion. An upper rod is horizontally supported in slots formed in the upper ends of the side support plates. Rotatable rollers attached to opposite ends of the rod are engaged in roller guide boxes which are rigidly secured to the lateral sides of the seat frame backrest portion to guide and support the seat frame. An elongated swing arm is pivotally connected at its rear end and at its front end to the lower end of the support frame and to the front end of the seat portion, respectively, to help support the seat frame. A spring shelf and a header plate are rigidly secured to the seat frame near the lower and upper ends, respectively, of the backrest portion. A vertically disposed spring tension adjustment rod is rotatably mounted in holes provided in the spring shelf and header plate and its threaded lower end threadedly engages and supports a spring hanger. A pair of helical tension springs resiliently supports the seat frame on the support frame. Each spring has its upper and lower ends hooked to the upper rod on the support frame and to the spring hanger, respectively. Manual rotation of the tension adjustment rod moves the spring hanger to load or relax the springs. A spring damper in the form of an extendable/retractable shock absorber has its lower and upper ends pivotally connected to the rear end of the swing arm and to an anchor bracket on the seat frame backrest portion, respectively.

    摘要: A vehicle seat assembly comprises a support frame attachable to a vehicle cab floor by a guide/slide rail assembly. A manually actuatable horizontally swingable lever mounted on the guide/slide rail assembly alongside the seat releasably locks the entire seat assembly is selected fore and aft positions. A seat and pivotally interconnected backrest are pivotally, slidably and resiliently mounted on the support frame. The seat is horizontally shiftable fore and aft on the support frame to vertically tilt the backrest. A manually actuatable vertically pivotable backrest adjustment bar is mounted on and extends horizontally along the front of the seat and releasably locks the seat on the support frame so as to maintain the backrest in selected tilt positions. A resilient suspension, which resiliently supports the seat and backrest on the support frame, includes a pair of helical tension springs having upper ends hooked to the upper rear of the support frame and lower ends connected to the ends of a flexible non-stretchable cable that passes beneath the seat. The cable bight is connected to stationary cable anchors and to an adjustably movable cable adjustment member, both mounted on the underside of the seat. A manually rotatable screw mounted on the front of the seat adjustably positions the cable adjustment member to adjust spring tension to account for differences in seat occupant weight and severity of road shock. Resilient bumpers reduce shock when the seat and backrest reach their vertical travel limits and dampers slow down vertical motion of the backrest.

    摘要: An adjustment mechanism is provided for manually positioning and releasably locking a chair backrest in a desired vertical position relative to the chair seat. The mechanism comprises a guide rigidly secured to an upright backrest support frame of a chair and a channel rigidly secured to the backrest. The channel is mounted for vertical sliding movement on the guide. The channel comprises a slot having a plurality of vertically arranged notches along one vertical edge of the slot, an inclined surface sloping downwardly from the lowest notch at the bottom end of the slot, and a cam surface, partially straight and partially curved, extending upwardly along the other vertical edge of the slot from the lower end of the inclined surface to the highest notch. A latch bar is pivotally mounted on a pivot pin on the guide and has a latch pin extending into the slot. A two-legged torsion spring mounted on the guide between the guide and channel biases the latch bar in a latched position wherein the latch pin releasably engages a notch to maintain the backrest at a selected height. Manually raising the backrest slightly above its highest latched position (lowest notch) engages the inclined surface with the latch pin to pivot the latch bar overcenter to spring-biased unlatched position. Then, manually lowering the backrest to its lowest position (highest notch) while the latch pin engages the curved portion of the cam surface pivots the latch bar from overcenter unlatched position back to a latched position wherein the latch pin engages the highest notch to maintain the backrest in its lowest position. From there, the backrest can be lifted one notch at a time to raised positions.
