摘要: A modular office panelling system has been improved by providing an air circulation arrangement of selectively cool or remove heat from a particular area defined by the panelling system. Fans are provided in removable panel cover portions which can advantageously be secured in the office panelling system in the same manner as fabric covered removable cover portions. Thus, the air circulation arrangement may be provided as an original specification or added as a retrofit in the field. The interior of the panel is also used as a large inlet plenum whereby the flow of air into the panel is at a slow velocity.

摘要: Securement and cooperation between panels of an office panelling system is improved by mechanically connecting panels in a manner to maintain a particular orientation and to allow transfer of loads therebetween. The mechanical fasteners are advantageously combined with compressible strips between panels which not only deform during fastening of the fasteners, but engage the panel and distribute the clamping force to a larger area thereby adding structural rigidity.

摘要: A chair comprises a longitudinally extending seat; a support member for supporting the seat at an elevated height; a slide member fixedly mounted to one of the seat and the support member; a housing positioned between the seat and the support member and fixedly mounted to the other of the seat and the support member, the housing having a cavity for slidably receiving the slide member, the slide member mounted for longitudinal movement forward and rearward with respect to the housing; and, an adjustment member mounted in the housing and drivingly connected to the slide member, whereby movement of the adjustment member in a first direction causes the seat to move forwardly and movement of the adjustment member in the opposite direction causes the seat to move rearwardly.

摘要: An office panelling system is advantageously combined with fiber optic communication cable wherein the panels of the system are generally open in the center thereof and the vertical space of the panel is advantageously used for reducing the curvature of the cable between panels disposed at an angle. The panels have a metal framework onto the sides of which cover members are secured such that the interior of the framework is generally open. The framework includes a host of distributed passage ports therethrough for allowing communication cables and the like to pass through the framework where desired. The fiber optic communication cable is strung through the frameworks of the panels and rounds corners between panels disposed at an angle by using both the vertical and horizontal planes of the framework to provide a curvature in the cable rounding the corner between angled panels much greater than the angle of curvature of the cable if the cable was confined to a single horizontal plane for rounding the same corner. The rate of curvature of the cable is important, as in fiber optic cables light loss is encountered with any corner and the extent of the light loss increases as the radius of curvature becomes smaller. It is the general practice that the rate of curvature chould not be less than ten times the diameter of the cable.
