    摘要: An EPG service architecture incorporates multiple EPG servers connected in a cluster with each EPG server having an EPG service module and a dispatcher. Each dispatcher has the capability for state determination as an active or standby dispatcher. A plurality of STBs interface with the EPG server cluster and issue requests for EPG service which are routed by the active dispatcher. The routing is accomplished by redirection of the request to an EPG service module selected from the multiple EPG servers in the cluster. Each EPG service module includes the capability for service connection to the STB upon receiving the redirection from the active dispatcher. Upon a determination that the current active dispatcher is not operating, the standby dispatchers vote for a replacement which then assumes the active dispatcher role.

    摘要: In mobile IP wireless data networking, methods are described for correctly routing packets through a foreign agent to or from wireless nodes where the wireless nodes have the same home network IP address. Instead of using normal IP routing, the foreign agent uniquely identifies the wireless node's home network IP address and home agent IP address with a PPP link address associated with a PPP link between the foreign agent and the wireless node. This association between PPP link addresses, home agent IP addresses, and home network IP addresses, is preferably implemented in software as a table stored in the foreign agent. The routing of packets through the foreign agent to the mobile nodes is performed by reference to the table. The table allows the foreign agent to correctly and efficiently route packets in the situation where multiple wireless nodes are registered with the foreign agent, but more than one of the wireless nodes have the same home network IP address.

    摘要: A method and apparatus wirelessly transmits messages from a first messaging service such as the Short Messaging Service (SMS) on a on a second messaging service such as a channel established by the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). An original text message is encoded into a Short Messaging Service format of the first messaging service to produce a first encoded message. The first encoded message is encoded into a Session Initiation Protocol format of the second messaging service to produce a second encoded message, transmitted on a radio protocol. The second encoded message is received and decoded to produce the first encoded message. The first encoded message can be delivered to a server and decoded to produce the original text message.
