    摘要: A communication system is provided that includes a network node, a first terminal which supports an EVS (Enhanced Voice Service) codec, and a second terminal. The EVS codec supports an AMR-WB (Adaptive Multi Rate Wideband) codec compatible mode and an AMR-WB codec non-compatible mode, the AMR-WB codec having a dedicated payload format, where the AMR-WB codec compatible mode is compatible with an AMR-WB codec and the AMR-WB codec non-compatible mode is non-compatible with the AMR-WB codec. The first terminal and the second terminal negotiate the AMR-WB codec non-compatible mode in a session negotiation to select the AMR-WB codec non-compatible mode to be used for the communication between the first terminal and the second terminal when the communication starts.

    摘要: An anchoring network device of a telecommunications network can receive a first initiation request of a communication session and determine a second request indicating a different media capability than the first request. A network gateway can modify packets of the session, e.g., by transcoding between the capabilities. In some examples, the anchoring device can determine that a codec list of the initiation request corresponds to a rewrite rule. The device can apply the rewrite rule to the request to provide a second request listing a second, different codec. In some examples, the anchoring device can determine if there is a common media capability between the first initiation request and a predetermined exclusion list. If not, the second request can include at least one capability not in the first request, e.g., an Enhanced Voice Services (EVS) Channel-Aware-mode (ChAw) codec.

    摘要: Aspects of the present invention include method and systems or processing multimedia data exchanged between mobile devices. Initially, a transmitting mobile device attempts to send multimedia data formatted in a primary format even though a receiving mobile device cannot process the data. The multimedia data in the primary format is then uploaded to a multimedia communication server where the multimedia data can be transcoded on demand into a secondary format that the receiving mobile device can indeed process. To track the multimedia data, the transmitting mobile device receives a multimedia identifier associated with the multimedia data uploaded to the multimedia communication server. Instead of sending the multimedia data, the transmitting mobile device forwards the multimedia identifier to the receiving mobile device allowing the receiving mobile device to demand transcoding the multimedia data into a secondary format on the server that the receiving mobile device is capable of receiving and processing.

    摘要: Embodiments provide systems, methods, apparatus, and computer program products for selecting the codecs that each endpoint will use in a call in order to optimize the utilization of at least one internal resource of a network component. The network component receives a call invite from a first endpoint that identifies available codecs. The network component determines what codecs are available to the second endpoint and determines what codec pairing will have the least impact on at least one identified internal resource of the network component. The network component sends call set-up information to the first endpoint that identifies the selected codec or list of codecs for the first endpoint, and call set-up information to the second endpoint that identifies the selected codec or list of codecs for the second endpoint.
