    摘要: A fixing device includes a fixing rotator, an opposing rotator, a temperature detector, and a support. The fixing rotator has a hollow and heats an image to fix the image onto a recording medium. The opposing rotator forms a fixing nip between the fixing rotator and the opposing rotator. The temperature detector includes an exposed conductive portion. The support has conductivity and is disposed in the hollow of the fixing rotator to support the fixing rotator at the fixing nip. The support has at least one of a recessed portion or an opening at a position facing the exposed conductive portion of the temperature detector.

    摘要: A heater for being attached to a heating device includes a base layer and a heat generator, an electrode, and a feeder that are mounted on the base layer. The feeder is interposed between the electrode and the heat generator. The feeder is configured to electrically connect the electrode to the heat generator. The base layer includes a heat generating portion mounting the heat generator and an electrode portion mounting the electrode. A decreased cross section portion is interposed between the heat generating portion and the electrode portion. The decreased cross section portion has a cross-sectional area that is smaller than a cross-sectional area of the heat generating portion. The decreased cross section portion includes a positioner configured to engage a counterpart of the heating device and position the heater in a longitudinal direction of the heater when the heater is attached to the heating device.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a cooler and a heater. The heater includes a heat generation unit, which includes resistive heat generators arranged in a longitudinal direction of the heater, a first electrode, a second electrode, a first conductor that connects the resistive heat generators in parallel with each other to the first electrode, and a second conductor that connects the resistive heat generators in parallel with each other to the second electrode. The first and second conductors are connected to at least one of the resistive heat generators on a first longitudinal end side of the heater from a center of the resistive heat generator in the longitudinal direction of the heater. A cooling ability of the cooler to a second longitudinal end side of the heater opposite the first longitudinal end side of the heater is greater than that to the first longitudinal end side of the heater.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus includes an image bearer, a protectant applicator, a heating device, and a protectant biasing member. The protectant applicator applies protectant to the image bearer. The heating device includes a heater including a base, a heat generator, an electrode, and a conductor coupling the heat generator to the electrode. The heater has a first position and a second position having a higher temperature than the first position. These are symmetrical to each other with respect to a longitudinal center of a heat generation area of the heater. The protectant biasing member biases the protectant to the protectant applicator with a first biasing force at a position closer to the first position than to the second position and with a second biasing force larger than the first biasing force at a position closer to the second position than to the first, and the protectant contacts the protectant applicator.
