摘要: A seed mat for placement in a growing medium, such as soil. The seed mat includes a biodegradable mat having at least one opening positioned within an indentation, and a seed that is placed near the opening. The opening is sized smaller than the seed, and the seed is secured below the opening between a bottom biodegradable sheet that is adhered to the bottom surface of the mat. An adhesive is used to adhere the bottom sheet to the mat. The adhesive can optionally include a water-soluble fertilizer.

摘要: A composite article comprises a substrate element with a first cover element spaced from the substrate element. A second cover element is disposed between the first cover element and the substrate element. A first adhesive layer is disposed between the first and second cover elements, where the first adhesive layer is configured to adhere the first cover element to the second cover element. A second adhesive layer is disposed between the second cover element and the substrate element, where the second adhesive layer is configured to adhere the second cover element to the substrate element. At least one seed abuts the first adhesive layer. The first cover layer is configured to be separated from the first adhesive layer thereby exposing at least a portion of the seed(s). Also disclosed are a method of forming a composite article, and a method of planting a seed with a composite article.

摘要: A removable support surface has knitted loops of yarn, and has piles extending from the knitted yarn to form an artificial turf, or to form a hybrid turf when combined with natural grass which grows between the knitted yarn. The piles may be hollow to retain liquid, and the dimensions of the yarn and the piles may be adjusted during fabrication. The removable support surface is fabricated by warp knitting, and the piles may be bent to have a crimped configuration. When used in a bunker with sand, the crimped configuration prevents sand from migrating. The removable support surface may also be placed on a seeded mat, on a dirt layer, or on existing natural grass. The removable support surface may be composed of biodegradable material.

摘要: Slope surfaces of land can be eroded by rain and wind. It is necessary to vegetate a bared slope surface of land for the purpose of erosion control and environmental conservation. The present invention provides a vegetation base soil composition and a method of growing vegetation on a sloped surface for erosion control and vegetating on cut rock slope surface, such as weathered rock surface and barren soil surface. The vegetation base soil includes peat, bio-solids formed by the treatment of urban sewage, for example water treatment plant sediment, woodchip, bark, animal waste compost and clay or loam. The vegetation base soil with a microbes active material, a root activation fertilizer, an adhesive material and seeds are applied over a mesh that is secured over the sloped surface. Plants are grown in the layer of vegetation base soil.

摘要: A seed mat structure enables seeds to germinate relatively quickly, have fast maturation rates and be hardier. Seeds and at least one soil amendment component are positioned with a first layer on a second layer. The first layer comprises a reticulate fabric including a grid with openings allowing passage of water. Fibers extending into grid openings facilitate adherence of the seeds within the openings and retention in the grid. The second layer is hygroscopic, and could, for example, comprise absorbent paper towel or heavy tissue. Both layers of the mat are preferably biodegradable. The mat may have zones, each zone being dedicated to a different type of seed or seeds. In a further embodiment, a planting system is provided in which a set of soil amendments external to the seed mat is provided including selected components proportioned to the size of the seed mat and optimized for the seed mat components.
