Abstract: A system for supporting lines of trees growing in pots includes poles supported in an upright position, with a first cable running between pairs of poles. Tree trunks are attached to the first cable with a device that includes a length of helical cable, a second cable, that is adapted for mating with the first cable, formed into a “V” shape. A pair of deformable cylinders, one having a longitudinal slit, are included. The slit cylinder is positionable over the first cable on a first side of the tree trunk. The second cylinder is threaded onto the second cable into a notch section thereof, and placed on a second side of the tree trunk. The two arms of the second cable are wound about the first cable on opposite sides of the tree trunk to prevent slippage therebetween, leaving at least one end free for ease of disconnect.

Abstract: A tree supporting system includes a non-elastic flexible tree collar belt which encircles the tree trunk with movable belt loops thereon, adjustable cables attached at one end to the loops, and ground anchors at the other end that are driven lengthwise into the ground and pulled into a flat transverse position in the ground. The belt and the belt loops are formed flat non-elastic webbing. The belt loops having an upper loop eye at an upper end slidably mounted on the belt and a lower loop eye at a lower end sized and shaped to receive an end of the cable. A cam type or ratchet type cinching buckle on the belt allows passage of one end of the belt therethrough for tightly cinching the belt about the circumference of the tree trunk and releasably grips the belt in the encircled position. The belt loops are selectively spaced apart in circumferential relation to one another on the belt in its encircled position prior to cinching it about the tree trunk and are secured against the circumference of the tree trunk in the circumferentially spaced relation when it is cinched and gripped by the buckle. Each ground anchor is driven into the ground in an upright position to the desired depth by a driving rod. The driving rod is removed, and the cable is then pulled upward to rotate the anchor until it is positioned transverse to the hole formed when it was driven into the ground. The cables extend radially outward and downward from the belt loops to the ground anchors to support the tree trunk from selected directions.

Abstract: A tree tie engageable about the trunk of a tree and fixed to a supporting post set adjacent the tree. The tree tie is such that it will yield about and freely permit the trunk of its related tree to grow or increase in size and is such that it will yield, buffer and absorb shock-like forces imparted into it upon rapid movement of the tree relative to the post. The tree tie comprises a collar established of a length of rubber or plastic hose engaged about its related tree trunk, a pair of elongate cable or wire lines extending from within the opposite ends of the collar to the support post with which they are secured by anchoring means and helical spring means within and carried by the collar and connected with the ends of the lines within the collar. The spring means operate to normally yieldingly impart tension on the lines whereby the tree is yieldingly prevented from bending and/or tipping in a direction away from the post to an excessive extent. The spring means also operate to support and prevent collapsing of the collar.

Abstract: An improved plant support device or clip is adapted to be utilized with an upright support strand of wire or twine. The clip includes a pair of arcuate arms which are closed to encircle the stem of the plant. As the arms are closed, the support strand is gripped by a clamp which holds the clip against movement along the strand. The clamp has gripping surfaces with offset elongated clamp ribs which securely grip the strand. A retaining rib extends transversely to the clamp ribs to prevent the strand from moving along the clamp ribs and becoming disengaged from the clamp. The arms of the clip are held in the closed position by a latch which can be readily released by resiliently deforming one of the clip arms.
