摘要： An electronic device to warn of a low water level, particularly in a Christmas tree water reservoir base. A flashing unit provides an affect to an outlet where the strand of lights on the tree or another lighted device will turn on and off until the water is filled into the base again. A message will be played at intervals through a speaker in an ornament, possibly hung on the tree. The message is recorded by pressing a button then speaking into a microphone. Messages are limited only to the human imagination. The lights will stop flashing and the message will stop playing when the water is filled into the reservoir base. The circuitry is housed separately away from the base to prevent shock.

The housing includes an open side. An illumination unit is received in the housing through the open side. The top housing portion includes a tree-trunk-reception well and light-exit openings. Preferably, the illumination unit includes a drawer portion, and a light emission assembly is received in the drawer portion. The open side of the housing includes a drawer lock member. The drawer lock member engages a complementary lock engaging portion on the bottom of the drawer portion. Light from the illumination unit shines through the light-exit openings to shine upon a tree supported by the tree-trunk-reception well.

摘要： A mechanical holder is disclosed for holding Christmas trees of various sizes and trunk shapes. The holder includes a base, a vessel fixed to the base and provided with a centering spike, and several retaining elements regularly spaced apart around the vessel. In their retaining position above the vessel, the retaining elements can swivel independently of each other to align and retain the Christmas tree with their faces towards the axis of symmetry. According to the invention, the Christmas tree stand has a single tensioning device which applies to the tree trunk the force required to align and retain the tree. Through the action of several force transmitting elements and diverting elements, the retaining elements compensate for possible irregularities or slanted tree growth.

A limit switch (84) can provide and audible warning that there is an obstruction to normal operation. A live tree adapter (106) is placed into the spindle (18) to accommodate a live Christmas tree (24).

摘要： A fire safety apparatus particularly useful in association with Christmas trees comprising a smoke detector, circuitry for processing a signal generated by the smoke detector, an audible alarm, a moisture level sensor and circuitry for interruption of the flow of electricity to a receptacle. In the event of a Christmas tree fire, the smoke detector activates the circuitry which cause the audible alarm to be sounded. The audible alarm is sensed by a receiver which contains the circuitry for interruption of the flow of electricity and is in the form of one or more switches. Any appliances, such as Christmas tree lighting which are plugged into the receptacle, are deactivated by the interruption of electrical flow at the receptacle. Additionally, moisture sensing probes are provided which activate circuitry which cause the alarm to be sounded when the moisture level contained in a Christmas tree base falls below a certain level. Again, the circuitry activates one or more switches, thereby precluding the flow of electricity to the appliances plugged into the receptacle.
