摘要： A staple which is compressively affixed to the mandibular jaw with lag screws, a drill guide apparatus having a plane guide and drilling barrel for proper alignment of the staple and a method for proper implantation of the staple. The staple is provided with a plurality of parallel transosteal pins which are mounted on a mounting axis which extends in a direction parallel to the axis of compression. The plane guide has a curvilinear aperture to extend around the jaw bone for forming a planar mating surface on the bone with a grinding tool. The drilling barrel accepts a plurality of removable sleeves for guiding drill bits of different sizes. A cap nut is self-threaded on to a smooth portion of the transosteal pin. The smooth portion of the transosteal pin is provided to reduce irritation to the gingiva and facilitate adhesion of a bioceramic or biocompatable polymer material.

摘要： A mandibular staple bone plate including a support plate having mounting posts attached thereto which extend through the lower jawbone onto which standardized mounting means, embedded within a denture, may be mounted. The mounting means carried thereon engage the top of the mounting posts which extend through the jaw and into the mouth. Additionally, a gauge plate, which may be placed over the mounting posts in a fashion similar to the appliance plate, is used to determine the proper length for the mounting posts prior to mounting the appliance plate on the posts.

摘要： Artificial salivary gland devices and assemblies are provided. The present disclosure provides artificial salivary pump/gland devices and assemblies, and related methods of use. One embodiment utilizes the interstitial/marrow fluid reservoir within the underlying mandibular or maxillary bone as a source for replacement saliva. The salivary pump/assembly, which is implantable in the mandibular or maxillary bone as a dental implant and driven by incidental tooth contact and masticatory forces, harvests interstitial/marrow fluid and treats it via semi-permeable membrane technology and soluble particles as a continuously available saliva replacement. Masticatory forces and tooth contact power the pump to both harvest interstitial/marrow fluid and drive flow through a bed of ion-exchange resins and/or soluble particles to adjust fluid chemistry providing a continuously available saliva-like solution. Exemplary devices and assemblies can also be utilized to introduce beneficial bacteria into the oral cavity and/or be utilized as a delivery system for drugs/therapeutic agents.
