摘要: The present disclosure describes transmission systems for use in artificial joints of assistive devices, such as assistive prostheses, orthoses, and powered exoskeletons. A variable transmission is configured to automatically or manually adapt the torque profile to the demand of different locomotion tasks, such as a relatively high torque and low speed profile for a task such as standing up or ascending stairs, or a relatively low torque and high speed profile for a task such as walking.

摘要: A prosthetic knee can include a variable-torque magnetorheological (MR) actuator assembly or braking system, a frame and an electronics assembly or system that also serves as a mount for the knee actuator and facilitates in monitoring and controlling the operation of the knee actuator. The prosthetic knee system advantageously provides resistive forces to substantially simulate the position and motion of a natural knee joint during ambulation and/or other locomotory activities performed by the amputee. The prosthetic knee can be enclosed in a waterproof compartment. An outer cover can be configured to fit around the waterproof cover of the prosthetic knee.

At least two joints are arranged between the upper part fixing point and the lower part fixing point, wherein the joints enable a swivelling of the actuator relative to the upper part fixing point and the lower part fixing point, and the joint each form at least one joint axis, at least one of which is not oriented parallel to the joint axis.

摘要: A robotic joint comprises a first link, a middle link, a torque generator, a second link, and a locking mechanism. Different ends of the middle link are rotatably coupled to the first link and the second link. The torque generator is coupled to the first link and the middle link and is configured to produce torque between these links. The locking mechanism is switchable between a locking state and an unlocking state. In the unlocking state, the locking mechanism allows free rotation of the second link relative to the middle link in the first and second rotation directions. In the locking state, the locking mechanism is configured to impede rotation of the second link relative to the middle link in the first rotation direction and to allow rotation of the second link relative to the middle link in the second rotation direction opposite of the first rotation direction.

摘要: Disclosed is a para-bi-cycling knee joint prosthesis for interconnecting a prosthetic lower leg and a prosthetic thigh, the knee joint prosthesis including an upper body portion configured to support a socket adapter, for connection with a prosthetic thigh; a lower body portion extending from the upper body portion and configured to connect with a prosthetic lower leg; a pair of ball bearings mounted on ends of a pivot shaft, the pivot shaft forming un upper part of the lower body portion, the upper body portion having left and right upper body portions, each configured to receive the external surface of one of the bearings, thus enabling rotation between the upper and lower body portions; the rotation allowing for flexion between the upper and the lower body portions of at least 140 degrees; and the upper body portion having an extended surface configured to engage a complementarily-shaped surface of the lower body portion, to prevent the backward rotation of the knee joint.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for controlling a prosthesis or orthesis of the lower extremity, the prosthesis or orthesis comprising an upper part (10) and a lower part (20) which is connected to the upper part (10) via a knee joint and is mounted so as to be pivotable relative to the upper part (10) about a joint pin (15); wherein an adjustable resistance device (40) is situated between the upper part (10) and the lower part (20), by means of which resistance device a resistance (Rf) is modified on the basis of sensor data; wherein state information is detected by sensors, a cyclical movement different from walking is determined and the resistance (Rf) is adjusted to a low level during the cyclical movement; wherein determining the cyclical movement comprises the following steps: a. detecting the flexion angle (αK) and at least one absolute angle (αS) of the lower part (20) and/or the upper part (10) over at least one movement cycle, b. identifying the cyclical movement from the relative movement of the upper part (10) and the lower part (20) and the absolute movements of the upper part (10) and/or the lower part (20) in space.

摘要: Systems and methods for controlling an orthopedic joint device of a lower extremity, the orthopedic device comprising an upper part, a lower part mounted in articulated fashion to the upper part, and a conversion device arranged between the upper and lower parts. The conversion device provides for, during pivoting of the upper part relative to the lower part, mechanical work from a relative movement between the upper and lower parts to be converted and stored in at least one energy store and supplied back to the joint device with a time offset in order to assist the relative movement. The stored energy is converted back and the supply of mechanical work takes place in a controlled manner during the assistance of the relative movement.

摘要: A prosthetic or orthotic device has an elongate frame that houses electronics and an actuator rotatably mounted to the frame. The actuator can rotate in an anterior-posterior direction about a medial-lateral axis and includes magnetorheological (MR) fluid and a coil operable to selectively apply a magnetic field to the MR fluid to vary its viscosity and thereby vary a torsional resistance of the actuator about the medial-lateral axis. Circuitry controls an amplitude and a direction of a current applied to the coil. The circuitry can switch a direction of current passing through the coil, and to apply a reverse direction current pulse to the coil to reduce a time period over which a resistive torque of the actuator decreases to a baseline resistance amount.
