    摘要: A wheeled carriage for supporting a patient includes a patient support with head and foot ends and a wheeled base supported by castered wheels. Auxiliary wheels secured to an auxiliary wheel support structure are suspendedly mounted to the wheeled base. A control apparatus includes manipulative members, such as foot pedals at the head and foot ends and at the lateral sides of the wheeled carriage. The side foot pedals are supported by a transverse control shaft. The transverse control shaft extends through apertures in the auxiliary wheel support structure. Wheel bearing devices rotatably attach the auxiliary wheels relative to the transverse control shaft. A linkage arrangement enables the side foot pedals to physically move with the auxiliary wheels during movement between deployed and stowed positions.

    摘要: A wheeled carriage for supporting a patient in a substantially horizontal position includes a patient support having head and foot ends and a wheeled base supported by castered wheels. Auxiliary wheels are suspendably mounted on a wheel support structure with the axis of the auxiliary wheels spaced from a midpoint of the wheeled base. A control apparatus controls the wheel support structure to move the auxiliary wheels between a first deployed position whereat castered wheels at one end of the carriage are elevated from a floor surface, and a second stored position with the auxiliary wheels out of engagement with the floor surface. The wheeled carriage includes a drive motor for powering the auxiliary wheels. A drive member applies force to a load cell on the wheeled carriage. The load cell outputs a drive signal to drive the auxiliary wheels. An auxiliary wheel drive and control system accelerates or decelerates the carriage by comparing the drive signal with a threshold value that changes dependent on the velocity of the carriage.

    摘要: A cart for transporting articles of merchandise or human bodies comprises a bed supported principally on four legs having an Xframe configuration. The legs are capable of being angulated with respect to each other to change the level of the bed. One pair of legs is formed in two sections, the lowermost section being pivotable with respect to the upper section to permit it to swing into substantial alignment with the fixed legs. This enables a single operator to thrust the cart into a vehicle while standing at one end of the cart. In addition, the legs may be adjusted to vary the level of a cart by a single operator.

At least one proximity sensor is positioned on the device in order to detect the presence of one or more objects that may lie in the path of the device when it moves. A controller on the device determines the distance between itself and the object and automatically controls the speed of the device in a manner designed to reduce the likelihood of a collision and/or to mitigate the impact of a collision. The automatic speed control of the device may follow one or more predetermined profiles that correlate certain parameters, such as a distance to the object or relative velocity, with a maximum acceptable speed of the device.

    摘要: A low profile hospital bed includes a mattress support frame and pivotably mounted wheel frames. Lift actuators connecting between the mattress support frame and the wheel frames move the wheel frames between a folded position and an unfolded position. When the wheel frames are in the folded position, the lift actuators are relatively horizontal and thus unable to provide enough vertical force to move the wheel frames. Accordingly, connecting between the actuators and the wheel frames are leverage members which rotate and urge the wheel frames away from mattress support frame during an initial, first stage of movement as the wheel frames partially unfold. After the first stage of movement, the leverage members function as simple mechanical links between the lift actuators and the wheel frames as the lift actuators continue to power the complete unfolding of the wheel frames.

The support system is a retractable system disposed on the bottom of the cot to support the chair cot during transportation. For example, one embodiment of a support system includes a track that extends from the bottom for the chair cot. The track supports the chair cot thereby minimizing the need for an emergency worker to manually support the chair cot during transportation. The movement system is coupled to the support system and utilizes rotational movement to assist in moving the chair cot over a surface. For example, one embodiment of a movement system includes coupling a motor system and a brake system to the support system to provide motorized movement. The support system and movement system are configured to be collapsible to facilitate using the chair cot with an emergency vehicle. The chair cot further includes at least two platforms for supporting a patient in a seated position.

The pneumatic cylinder is arranged for moving the upper end of the first member and the lower end of the second member with respect to the patient support structure.
