Abstract: A rescue litter relates generally to a person, animal, and provisions carrying apparatus for purposes of human or animal recovery and relief missions. The carrying apparatus has commonalities with portable beds. The rescue litter aids manually carrying a casualty. The rescue litter comprises a stretcher sheet. The rescue litter also comprises at least one strap along the stretcher sheet to support the weight of the casualty. The stretcher sheet comprises guides to direct progressive motion of the strap(s) from a strap holder on the stretcher sheet where the strap(s) is/are held, to a head end where the strap(s) is/are free to grasp.

Abstract: A cover system for selectively blocking insertion of unauthorized objects through an aperture of a restraint mount of a patient support apparatus is provided. The cover system includes a cover and an instrument having an interface. The cover includes a brace and a restrictor coupled to the brace. The brace attaches to the patient support apparatus adjacent to the aperture and the restrictor operates in a restrict mode blocks access to the aperture and a permit mode where the restrictor permits access to the aperture. The cover also includes a lock mechanism, which includes a keeper movable between a locked state where movement of the restrictor is inhibited and an unlocked state where movement of the restrictor is permitted. The keeper moves from the locked state to the unlocked state in response to selective engagement between the interface of the instrument and a receiver of the lock mechanism.

Abstract: A transport device having a layer of resilient material with ends and sides. A hook is attached to each end of the layer of resilient material and alternating rings and straps are attached along the sides. An adjustable strap is attached to one side of the resilient material at a first end of the strap and has a clip at the opposite end of the strap. Attached to a bottom surface of the layer of resilient material is a layer of plastic that is positioned inwardly of the ends and sides of the layer of resilient material.

Abstract: An insertion tongue for a belt retaining system in patient transport displays a tongue plate with a belt duct and a belt surround bar opposite the belt duct, around which, in use, a belt is placed and which is displaceably supported transversely to its longitudinal direction. The belt surround bar has two bars parallel to one another, with one or more rotatable rollers or pulleys being arranged on the bar which is outer in relation to the insertion tongue.

Abstract: A transfer system includes an air-bearing support with first and second longitudinal sections. A port is provided in flow communication with the first and second longitudinal sections, and configured for inflation of the air-bearing support for transfer of a patient or other body. A selective coupling extends between the first and second longitudinal sections, adapted to attach the first and second sections together for transfer of the body on the air-bearing support, and to at least partially detach the first and second longitudinal sections for separation and removal, e.g., upon deflation of the patient support, after the transfer is accomplished.

Abstract: A patient evacuation sled has a bottom plastic sheet and a foam layer disposed thereabove. At least one spinal board is disposed between the bottom sheet and the foam layer, and a patient support plastic sheet is disposed above the foam layer. The bottom sheet, the foam layer, and the patient support sheet form a sandwiched portion configured to underlie a patient; peripheral edge portions of the bottom sheet and the patient support sheet are coupled together with substantially no foam layer therebetween. Plural horizontal straps are disposed substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the sled, and are coupled to the peripheral edge portions, and configured to, when tightened, at least partially enclose said patient in a cylindrically shaped cocoon. Plural wheel assemblies are coupled to each spinal board, at least a portion of each wheel assembly extends through corresponding holes in the bottom sheet.
