    Abstract: The feeding tube system includes an elongated shaft having a proximal portion, an opposing distal portion, and a central opening or lumen extending therethrough. The proximal portion is configured to remain outside a patient's body cavity and includes a first opening through which fluids can be introduced into the lumen. The distal portion is configured for disposing within a patient's body cavity and includes a second opening for discharging fluids from the lumen into the patient's body cavity. An interior retention balloon is provided at the distal portion of the elongated shaft. An external base positioned at the proximal portion of the feeding tube can include at least one exterior base balloon extending therefrom. The interior retention balloon and the at least one exterior base balloon are inflatable.

    Abstract: A connector for coupling to a base of medical device equipped with a circular hub having an annular recess. The connector includes a cap having a top surface, a bottom surface, a circumferential region defining a bottom plane and a periphery, and at least two arms substantially parallel to the bottom plane. Each arm spans at least two portions within the circumferential region to releasably engage the annular recess. At least one deflection member that is accessible from the top surface is positioned to deflect the arms. Pressing the connector onto the circular hub engages the arms with the annular recess so the connector can rotate completely about the circular hub. Pressing at least one deflection member to reversibly deflect at least one arm between its two portions of the circumferential region towards the periphery disengages the arm from the annular recess to decouple the connector.

    Abstract: An internal bolster for use securing a medical device, such as a feeding tube, within a body of a patient is disclosed. In one embodiment, a feeding tube includes an internal bolster, comprising one or more bolster arms that each include a first end hingedly connected to a distal end of the medical device and a free second end. The bolster arms are selectively deployable between a first position wherein the bolster arms are substantially in-line with an axis of feeding tube, and a second position wherein the bolster arms are substantially deflected from the axis of the feeding tube to enable securement of the feeding tube within a stoma or other opening defined in the body. Various means for selectively moving the bolster arms between the first and second positions are disclosed. Related methods of use are also disclosed.

    Abstract: A connector for coupling to a base of medical device equipped with a circular hub having a circumferential recess. The connector includes a cap having a top surface, a bottom surface, a central region, and a circumferential region. The cap defines at least two pairs of slots extending from the circumferential region towards the central region dividing the cap into at least two fixed lobes and at least two resilient lobes. Each resilient lobe has an outward projecting lift tab, an inward projecting catch, and at least a resilient region. Positioning the connector on the circular hub and pressing the connector engage the catches with the circumferential recess of the circular hub so the connector can rotate completely about the circular hub. Lifting at least one lift tab to reversibly displace the resilient lobe and its respective catch radially to disengage from the circumferential recess decouples the connector.

    Abstract: A connector for coupling to a base of an indwelling catheter or tube device equipped with a circular hub having a radius, a top surface, a side surface, and a circumferential recess defined in the side surface. The connector has a resilient assembly that includes a plurality of release buttons extending from the resilient assembly and may optionally include a head. The connector may also include a conduit defining a fluid pathway for transferring fluids through the connector. Each release button has a first portion including a finger contact zone and a second portion including a catch. The catch is configured to releasably engage the circumferential recess defined in the side surface of the circular hub. The connector is coupled to the circular hub by positioning the connector on the circular hub and depressing the connector until the catches engage the circumferential recess defined in the side surface of the circular hub such that the connector is configured to rotate completely about the circular hub.     Abstract: An inflatable retention system for an enteral feeding tube having a base deployed outside the human body and an indwelling retainer which is deployed within a lumen or cavity of the body by insertion through a stoma from outside the body. The retention system includes a tube having a proximal end, a distal end, an external tube diameter, and tube walls defining a feeding lumen and an inflation lumen. The retention system also includes an inflatable balloon located at a distal end of the tube in fluid communication with the inflation lumen, the balloon having thin, flexible walls, a predetermined spheroid shape, and a volume at which a fluid in the balloon is under no pressure such that upon inflation with a fluid to pressurize fluid in the balloon, the balloon assumes a stable spheroid shape and exhibits a substantially linear pressure versus volume curve.

    Abstract: A gastro jejunal (G-J) feeding device includes a gastro jejunal body and an integral feeding tube. The gastro jejunal body includes a gastric port, a jejunal port and a balloon port. The integral feeding tube includes a proximal end and a distal end and further includes a gastric lumen, a jejunal lumen and a balloon lumen. The proximal end is configured to be located outside of a patient's body. The distal end is configured to be inserted into a patient's body and has a deformable portion with a default shape having a width larger than a diameter of a tubular portion. A capsule is configured to be placed on the distal end so as to enclose and deform the deformable portion. The capsule is configured to dissolve upon contact with bodily fluid. The deformable portion is configured to return to the default shape upon dissolution of the capsule.
