Abstract:
The present invention is a device configured to permit combining the weight of a first and second free weight such that a user could grasp one of the weights in order to lift the combined weights. Embodiments of the invention comprise a back panel connected to two side panels, the side panels each comprising a slot with an opening divided into two portions oriented such that a first free weight may be inserted into the slot of each panel and positioned into a first slot portion, followed by a second free weight positioned in the second slot portion of each panel to permit a user to increase the resistance available for an exercise regimen.
Abstract:
A first exercise weight and a second exercise weight have handles, and the first exercise weight also has a cavity for receiving the second exercise weight. When the second exercise weight is received in the first exercise weight, the handle of the first exercise weight overlies the handle of the second exercise weight to form a common handle. In this way, the composite weight formed of the two component weights may be used itself as an exercise weight.
Abstract:
A head-wearable training tool used for functional neck musculature training to help lower the risk and reduce the number of sport-related concussions. The head-wearable training tool is weighted in a manner to have a substantially identical weight to that of and identified sport (e.g., football) helmet. An associated method involves off-season training using the head-wearable training tool.
Abstract:
A multi-exercise device including a device body including a first side and a second side disposed on opposite sides of the device body, at least one weight receiving area disposed on an interior of the device body, where the at least one weight receiving area is configured to secure at least one weight inside of the device body, at least one side handle including a first end and a second end, where the at least one side handle is coupled with the first side of the device body near the first end and the second end, two or more side grips disposed on the at least one side handle, and two extending handles, each including a proximal end and a distal end, where the two extending handles are coupled with the second side of the device body at the proximal end.
Abstract:
A fitness garment or suit comprises at least one of a jacket or pants similar to an athletic truing suit. A detachable inner lining support various types of weights in distributed pattern about body portions, generally distributing the total load between joints to provide general fitness training while the user wears the suit throughout the course of their normal activities. The inner lining does not interfere with the drape and feel of the outer garment.
Abstract:
A rigid adjustable hand weight system for use in physical fitness exercise consisting of a rigid flat handle portion with rigid flat weight members disposed on either end whose size and shape are such that two or more units may be bundled together and held within the user's hand secured together by the user's grip. Each unit may be held singularly or in a group with one or more other units in various combinations to create a hand weight bundle of the desired poundage. For instance, units weighing 2, 3 and 4 pounds may be lifted singularly or combined as necessary to create 5, 6, 7 and 9 pound weight combinations as the user desires. Eliminated is the need for fasteners such as screws, pins or other means since the user's grip provides the force that keeps the units bundled together. This allows for quicker changing of the weight being lifted as the user can simply pick up or put down the number of units required to achieve the desired lift weight rather than adding or removing weight plates to or from a single connecting device and securing them by mechanical means.
Abstract:
An exercise weight primarily for horses, to increase the horse's energy expenditure level during exercise. A slurry of polymerized plastic material is mixed with powdered metal, e.g. lead, producing a paste which is extruded in thin sheets, dried and cut to size. A selected number of such sheets are parallel stacked within a cover and can slide over each other to an extent limited by stitches or other fasteners holding the layers to the cover. The Young's Modulus of Elasticity (YME) of the resultant exercise weight is extremely low (typically less than about 2.5). The exercise weight can have various forms, such as the shape of a saddle to lie on the horse's body. When the horse gallops and its anatomical shape dynamically changes, the low YME permits the exercise weight on the horse to deform to adapt to the shape changes in the horse without generating large resistive forces or counterforces pushing against the horse. Avoiding these counterforces helps reduce injuries to the horse and allows better conditioning. The device weight can be increased by adding additional thin layers, up to but not substantially exceeding a critical number of layers, without substantially increasing the device's YME. The device can also be used for racing dogs, and other creatures, including humans.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a selectorized dumbbell having a handle that can be dropped down between nested left and right stacks of weight plates. The weight plates can comprise individual weights or a pair of weight plates, one from each stack, can be connected together to form a single weight. A selector is provided to allow the user to select a desired number of weight plates from each stack and couple such weight plates to the handle to provide an adjustable weight dumbbell. Each weight includes a weight frame having at least one carrier to which a commodity weight can be fastened. The dumbbell can be shipped by the manufacturer with empty weight frames to reduce shipping costs. When the dumbbell with empty weight frames reaches a destination, the dumbbell can be completed by securing commodity weights to the carriers on the respective weight frames.
Abstract:
A glove includes a glove body including opposing dorsal and palmar side panels, opposing proximal and distal ends, a wrist portion formed in the proximal end, and finger stalls formed in the distal end. An elongate strap has an inner end secured to the wrist portion of the glove body and an opposed free outer end, and a plurality of weight-receiving pockets formed in the elongate strap between the inner end of the elongate strap and the outer end of the elongate strap. Corresponding engagement and complemental engagement elements are carried by the elongate strap. The elongate strap is movable between a first position extending away from the wrist portion and a second position wrapped about the wrist portion engaging the engagement element to the complemental engagement element securing the elongate strap in the second position.
