摘要:
Apparatus, devices and methods of multiple high aspect ratio hydrodynamic horizontal ladder oriented vanes with pliable hinges and rotation limiting flexible webs attached between semi-flexible support beams on swim fins. Pivotal rotation of the hydrofoil vanes can be restricted by flexible membranes, between the hydrofoil vanes and the support beams, to provide an optimum angle of attack for the hydrofoil vanes during a swimming stroke. The fins can have at least one pivoting vane region connected to the support beams with a flexible hinge member. The support beams can be fixedly or rotationally attached at one end to a foot pocket. Methods are provided for limiting the rotation of at least one of the pivoting vanes using flexible web members between vanes and the support beams. Methods for increasing lift and decreasing turbulence and drag on hydrofoils or vanes of the swim fins are also included.

Retractable swim fins that attach to the legs of a swimmer to aid movement through the water. In one example embodiment, a retractable swim fin includes an upper support frame, a lower support frame, and a sliding assembly connecting the upper support frame to the lower support frame. The upper support frame is configured to be attached to the front of a swimmer's lower leg. The lower support frame includes means for aquatic propulsion and is configured to extend, in a swimming position, to a position beneath the sole of the swimmer's foot. The lower support frame is also configured to retract, in a walking position, to a position above the sole of the swimmer's foot. The walking position enables the swimmer to walk barefoot on a surface without the lower support frame substantially contacting the surface. The sliding assembly is configured to allow the lower support frame to retract.

Apparatus, devices and methods of using and operating multiple high aspect ratio hydrodynamic horizontal ladder oriented vanes with pliable hinges and rotation limiting flexible webs that are attached between flexible support beams on swim fins. The fins can have a foot pocket for attaching to a swimmer or diver's foot. A pair of roughly parallel support beams can be secured to the foot and toe portion of the foot pocket and support a plurality of hydrofoil vanes therebetween in a resisted pivotal arrangement. Pivotal rotation of the hydrofoil vanes can be restricted by flexible membranes, between the hydrofoil vanes and the support beams, to provide an optimum angle of attack for the hydrofoil vanes during a swimming stroke. Methods for increasing lift and decreasing turbulence and drag on hydrofoils and swim fins part of the fins. The fins can have at least one pivoting vane region connected to the fin with a flexible hinge member made from reduced vane cross sectional area, and injection molding of the flexible material of the foot pocket. Methods are provided for limiting the rotation of at least one of the pivoting vanes using flexible web members between the vanes and the support beams. Methods for forming flexible hinges with pivotal resistance to encourage propulsion during small kick movements and at kick reversal points are included. Injection molding assembly methods with chemical bonds and mechanical bonds are provided. A novel method for manufacturing a swim fin having a complex articulated system with few injection molding steps is also included.

A wetsuit has a plurality of pieces of material that are stitched or glued together to form the wetsuit, and at least one drag-creating section provided on one of the pieces of material. The drag-creating section has a plurality of water catch devices, each water catch device having a flap piece and a base portion, with a cavity defined between each flap piece and the base of the piece of material or the base portion of an adjacent water catch device. Each flap piece is constructed such that it can be expanded and collapsed to allow water to enter and leave the cavity, and the plurality of water catch devices are arranged in series immediately adjacent to each other, with the cavity of each water catch device on the piece of material opening in the same direction towards another water catch device.

An improved swim fin comprises a foot-packet formation formed with a foot-receiving cavity, and a fin blade attached and extending longitudinally beyond the foot-packet formation to a trailing edge thereof for a substantial length. The fin blade has an imaginary center line splitting down the middle thereof to separate the same into two symmetric portions. The fin blade further comprises: at least a first movable member and at least a second movable member. Both of the movable members are triangular shaped. The first movable member is disposed on one of the two portions of the fin blade and is connected to the fin blade by a first connecting edge such that the first movable member can wiggle using the first connecting edge as pivot within a predefined angle. The second movable member is disposed on another portion of the fin blade and is connected to the fin blade by a second connecting edge such that the second movable member can wiggle using the second connecting edge as pivot within an predefined angle.

My invention is unification of shoe and swimming enforcing elements comprising water shoe to assure unconstrained and protected walking and promotion for swimming due to generating of additional tractive force in consequence of foot swimming motions. A flexible slip protected spatial internally partitioned sole, with upper reticulated surface and perforated side wall with outlet holes jointly provide free drainage of water and sand from a shoe upper body. For its turn upper body is also reticulated, of flexible hard enough material fixed on the spatial lower sole. Few ranges of swimming elements, angle shaped fins, are immovably fixed on both lateral sides of the shoe upper body in such away that are paralleled to each other and upper body's top surface.

A fin has a blade provided with a hole and a one-way movable flap having a fixing edge connected to an inner margin of the blade and a moving edge overlapping an outer margin of the blade to close the hole on the blade. When a diver alternately sweeps two legs up and down under water, the movable flap on the fin worn on the upward swept leg is pushed downward by the resistance from the water to open the hole. The same resistance vanishes when the hole is opened, allowing the diver to sweep the leg upward with reduced effort. On the other hand, the flap on the fin worn on the downward swept leg is pushed upward by the resistance from the water to close the hole, allowing the diver to kick water more powerfully and advance more quickly.

A swimming auxiliary device includes an attaching member an attaching member mounted to the swimmer's calf or forearm, and a connecting device connected to the attaching member so as to pivotally connect a web member to the attaching member. A pulling device is connected between the web member and the attaching member to pull the web member toward the attaching member. When the swimmer pushes the water, the water flows between the web and the attaching member so that the web member is pivoted away from the by the water. The web member is then pulled by the pulling device to return its original position again when the water flows away from the web member.

A swim fin having a shoe and an integrally connected bi-level, relatively short fin assembly. The fin assembly includes upper and lower levels connected by side walls. Automatic valve flaps are provided at the outer portions of baffles and pivot about transverse axes. The valves automatically open and close during the kick to change the apparent area of the assembly. The bi-level arrangement increases the overall efficiency of the swim fin during use.

A swimming flipper intended primarily to be worn on the foot for breaststroke swimming. The flipper consists of a one piece molded unit formed preferably of flexible plastic material. The shoe portion adapted to fit on and secure the flipper to the foot of the swimmer has an integrally formed skirt that flares outwardly and downwardly from the periphery of the shoe opening. The skirt is also attached by webs at the heel and along a line from the toe to the forward portion of the shoe opening. The skirt is reinforced by integrally formed ribs extending between the upper and lower edges of the skirt.
