Abstract: A golf club head that is capable improving on the inertia properties of a golf club head all while also improving the Center of Gravity (CG) location is disclosed herein. More specifically, the golf club head in accordance with the present invention achieves a relative low Moment of Inertia (MOI) about the Z-axis (MOI-Z) as well as a relatively low MOI about the Shaft-axis (MOI-SA), all combined with a high MOI about the X and Y-axis (MOI-X and MOI-Y) and maintaining a consistently and relatively low CG location measured along a direction tangent to the hosel axis along the X-Y plane (CG-B).

Abstract: A golf club head includes a body defining an interior cavity. The body includes a sole positioned at a bottom portion of the golf club head, a crown positioned at a top portion, and a skirt positioned around a periphery between the sole and crown. The body has a forward portion and a rearward portion. The club head includes a face positioned at the forward portion of the body. In some embodiments, the crown includes a lattice-like structure having thin regions surrounded by a web of relatively thicker regions. In some embodiments, the club head includes one or more stiffening tubes attached between the sole and the crown to improve the acoustic performance of the golf club head.

In one example, a golf club head includes a body portion having a toe portion, a heel portion, a front portion, a rear portion, a top portion, and a sole portion. A retention cavity is located at the sole portion and includes an opening and a plurality of interior side walls connected to the opening. The plurality of interior side walls define two or more ball retention areas configured to frictionally engage at least a portion of a golf ball within the retention cavity. The two or more ball retention areas are located at or proximate the opening and frictionally engage the golf ball along a ball circumference located above an equator of the golf ball.
