    摘要: A honing machine (100) for honing a bore in a workpiece comprises a support structure (120) fixed to the machine and at least one honing unit (130) which is mounted on the support structure and which has a main support (160), which can be mounted fixedly in relation to the support structure, and a spindle unit (150), which is supported by the main support and in which a spindle shaft (152) is rotatably mounted, wherein the spindle shaft (152) is rotatable about a spindle axis (155) by means of a rotary drive and, at a tool-side end (153), has a device for the fastening of a honing tool. The honing machine furthermore has a linear guide system which is arranged between the main support (160) and the spindle unit (150) and which serves for guiding a linear stroke movement of the spindle unit (150) relative to the main support (160), a stroke drive for generating the stroke movement of the spindle unit (150), and an alignment system (200) for setting the alignment of the spindle axis (155) in relation to the support structure (120). The alignment system (200) is designed for the continuously variable, reversible setting of the alignment of the spindle axis (155) in relation to the support structure (120), wherein the alignment system is designed for the independent setting of the position of the spindle axis (155) along two mutually perpendicular axes of translation and for the setting of the orientation of the spindle axis (155) in relation to two mutually perpendicular axes of rotation.

    摘要: A honing tool holder utilizes pressure of a through-the-spindle coolant delivery system for automatically feeding the honing elements or stones of an attached honing tool when in the bore of a work piece, and for automatically stopping the feeding when a particular condition such as a bore size, is reached, so as to enable use of an in-process adjustable feed honing tool in a machine tool, machining center, or the like, lacking a feed mechanism or system but including a coolant delivery system. The holder can also include apparatus to automatically prevent feed past a limit. Both the feed force and feed limit can be adjustable, at least the latter by simple movements of the tool holder by the machine tool.

    摘要: The application describes a honing tool for use with a CNC machine. A fluid actuator provides the mechanism for causing radial adjustment of abrasive elements. The actuator consists of a piston and cylinder assembly mounted within the tool and powered by cooling fluid of the CNC machine. Actuation motion is driven by a helical drive on the piston which imparts rotary motion to a feed rod. Upper and lower feed rod sections are connected through a clutch. Axial movement is imparted to a feed cone by threaded engagement between the feed cone and the lower feed rod section.

    摘要: An improved honing method and device connected to a source of pressurized fluid for machining a wall of a bore hole or similar interior of a workpiece. The honing device includes a tool mandrel connected in a cantilevered arrangement to a machine for rotating machining operations. A rigid honing member is secured to the tool mandrel, and configured such that the effective diameter of the substantially rigid abrasive outer surface of the honing member can be uniformly and precisely varied in a radial direction relative to the longitudinal axis of the tool in response to pressure on the interior surface of the honing member. A fluid distribution system formed in the tool mandrel in a predetermined arrangement is in fluid communication with the source of pressurized fluid, and includes a pressure chamber that is configured to apply fluid pressure to the interior surface of the honing member. At least one passage extends through the honing member from the pressure chamber and has an opening on the exterior surface of the honing member for delivering fluid to dissipate heat energy and remove debris.

    摘要: A honing tool operated by a common motor or a drill while the part being honed is held by a common vice. A spring is positioned within a tubular sleeve member that is aligned with a boss member formed on the trailing end of a conventional housing for a conventional feedup rod. The leading end of the spring bears against the trailing end of the feedup rod and urges it continuously forwardly so that honing continues for as long as the spring is allowed to bear against the feedup rod. The honing operation can be stopped at any time by pulling back on a ring member that causes the spring to be compressed when pulled back. When the spring is compressed, the bias is taken off the feedup rod and hence the cutting stone, so that the diameter of the bore being honed can be measured. In a second embodiment, the final position of the ring member is marked at the conclusion of a honing operation that is to be repeated and a stop member is set so that subsequent honing operations conclude when the ring member attains the final position and is stopped by the stop member.
