摘要: A printhead provides actuation pulses for driving actuating elements from a common drive waveform via respective switching circuits, the waveform having a pre-charge ramp followed by a steeper slope. A start voltage of a leading edge of the actuation pulse is set by opening the switching circuit to decouple the common drive waveform from its actuating element part way along the pre-charge ramp. After the pre-charge ramp the actuating element is coupled again to the common drive waveform, so that the voltage across the actuating element follows the steeper slope to form the leading edge. Adjusting the timing of the decoupling adjusts the start voltage, enables trimming relative to other actuating elements. The gentle slope of the pre-charge ramp enables the precision of timing of switching to be more relaxed, so that trigger circuitry for controlling the switching circuit can be simpler, smaller, cheaper and thermally more efficient.

摘要: In general, in one aspect, the invention features a method of driving an inkjet module having a plurality of ink jets. The method includes applying a voltage waveform to the inkjet module, the voltage waveform including a first pulse and a second pulse, activating one or more of the ink jets contemporaneously to applying the first pulse, wherein each activated ink jet ejects a fluid droplet in response to the first pulse, and activating all of the ink jets contemporaneously to applying the second pulse without ejecting a droplet.

摘要: Described are a system and a method to activate an actuator for a first nozzle of a plurality of nozzles of an inkjet printing system. The inkjet printer system can be configured to generate triggers with a frequency for printing of a respective line of pixels by the plurality of nozzles. The frequency of the triggers can depend on a print speed of the inkjet printing system, and the print speed can be modifiable. A time period between two successive triggers can correspond to a total duration available to the first nozzle for an ink firing for printing of a pixel of the line. An indicator for a current print speed of the inkjet printing system can be determined. Depending on the indicator for the current print speed, a waveform for activation of an actuator can be defined to produce an ink firing for printing of the pixel of the line on the recording medium by the first nozzle within the total duration available at the current print speed. The waveform can be defined such that, depending on the indicator for the current print speed within the total duration available at the current print speed, the waveform includes: a prefire portion for excitation of a meniscus of the first nozzle without firing the ink droplet, and a fire portion for firing the ink droplet from the first nozzle.
