At this stage, predetermined tension is applied to the stencil sheet (M) by an urging force of the swinging member (47) to thereby prevent occurrence of wrinkles on the stencil sheet (M).

    摘要: Disclosed is an apparatus for properly orienting a thin flexible lighographic master sheet prior to the master sheet being fed to and clamped onto the master sheet cylinder of a lithographic press. The apparatus is basically a flat tray with movable pushers mounted thereon for shifting a sheet deposited on the tray in a lateral direction with respect to the direction of travel of the sheet and also longitudinally along the direction of travel of the sheet in order to place the sheet in a precise predetermined position with respect to a take-away mechanism. The apparatus also includes a movable wire guide device which maintains the sheet in a flat condition while it is being oriented to prevent the sheet from buckling more than the very slight degree which is specifically provided for to assure proper orientation. The device is constructed to be self-powered and readily removable from the duplicating machine with which it is normally associated.

    摘要: Disclosed is an apparatus for properly orienting a thin flexible lithographic master sheet prior to the master sheet being fed to and clamped onto the master sheet cylinder of a lithographic press.     摘要: To provide for smooth running of a plate cylinder with respect to associated rollers or cylinders, such as the blanket cylinder of an offset printing machine, the plate cylinder is formed with an engagement surface (3, 4) including an angle of less than 45.degree. with respect to the tangent of the plate cylinder at the intersection of the engagement surface and the cylindrical surface of the plate cylinder, and cover strips (8, 9) fitting over the plate and having an outer radius of curvature which corresponds to the radius of curvature of the plate cylinder with the plate (7) stretched thereover. The engagement surfaces are formed with holding pins (5, 6) to receive the plate. The outer surface of the cover strips, typically of steel, is hydrophilic and ink-rejecting, for example being knurled, roughened, or granulated to provide for clean margins, the length of the engagement surfaces matching the minimum margin adjacent the subject matter to be printed. When inserted, the cover strips, together with the plate cylinder, form a complete circular outline, thus preventing jolts and shocks from being transmitted to associated cylinders, while permitting a maximum of printed subject matter on a given length of web of paper with clean margins free from ink smear.

    摘要: A method for loading and unloading substrates on a drum of an imaging engine is applicable to the loading of plates in a platesetter. The method comprises unclamping a trailing edge of a first substrate of the drum and clamping a header of a second substrate to the drum. The order in which these two steps are performed is not critical to the invention. For example, the clamping and unclamping can happen simultaneously. Alternatively, the unclamping of the trailing edge can occur before the clamping of the header, or visa versa. In any case, the drum is then rotated to eject the first substrate from the drum while installing the second substrate on the drum. The notion here is that, as the drum is rotated, one substrate is being ejected while a second substrate is being installed on the drum. Thereafter, the header of the first substrate is unclamped and the trailing edge of the second substrate is clamped to the drum. The method is directed to decreasing the cycle time and thereby increasing throughput in a substrate exposure system, such as a platesetter or imagesetter. It decreases cycle lime by optimizing the loading and unloading of substrates.
