Abstract:
A method of applying tension to a canvas that is secured to a frame structure composed of frame members and corner pieces, wherein the frame members are interconnected using corner pieces adapted to receive ends of the frame members to form the frame structure, and wherein each of the frame members comprises a longitudinal axis. The method includes securing the canvas to a frame member; rotating the frame member around a rotation axis that is parallel with the length of the frame member, wherein the canvas, secured to the frame member, increases intension due to the rotation; and fixing the rotated frame member in the rotated position using the corner piece such that the increase in tension in the canvas is preserved.
Abstract:
A frame assembly includes a frame base and a rear panel including a plurality of side walls that are configured to be received within a plurality of side walls of the frame base. Along an external surface of each side wall of the rear panel there is at least one locking tab that is configured for reception within one corresponding locking opening of the frame base when the rear panel is inserted into the frame base so as couple the rear panel to the frame base in a snap-fitting manner and permit a canvas substrate to be captured therebetween for holding the canvas substrate across a front face of the frame base.
Abstract:
A quilt support formed of a rigid plate. The rigid plate includes a front surface and a rear surface. A gripping layer is attached to the front surface of the rigid plate. A foldable stand is pivotally attached to the rear surface of the rigid plate. The foldable stand includes a folded position and a deployed position. The folded position includes the foldable stand pivoted towards and resting against the rear surface. The deployed position includes the foldable stand pivoted away from the rear surface. The foldable stand is operable to support the rigid plate in an upright position when resting on a surface such that the rigid plate is disposed at an angle relative to the surface when in the deployed position.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to a framed canvas. The framed canvas includes a frame including at least two sides, each of the at least two sides including a front surface and a rear surface, the rear surface of at least one of the at least two sides including a cavity, a canvas sheet contacting each of the at least two sides, and at least one support, the at least one support including a first end and a second end, the first end configured to extend into the cavity, the second end configured to contact a base.
Abstract:
The system invention herein disclosed and claimed is an art work frame that can easily be folded into a smaller area such that shipping container and costs are reduced. Upon arrival at its destination, it can easily be unfolded into frame suitable for art work mounting.
Abstract:
A system for mounting a covering (e.g., a fabric material) upon a frame is constructed from a plurality of elongated frame parts. Each frame part has two mitered ends and a channel formed therein. The related mounting method includes the steps of: (a) using a jig to hold the fabric material against the frame; (b) inserting a plurality of retaining splines within respective channels so as to capture the fabric material within the channels between one retaining spline and a corresponding floor of the channel, whereby a plurality of corner pleats are formed; and (c) using a tool to invert each corner pleat into a corner joint formed between respective adjacent frame parts so as to form an internal fold at each corner of the frame.
Abstract:
An image display including an image substrate and a support structure. The image substrate has an image printed on a first surface. The support structure can include a front sheet and a plurality of side strips extending from the front sheet. The image substrate can be adhered to an external surface of the front sheet so that the front sheet forms a rigid backing for the image substrate. A variety of image substrates are provided.
Abstract:
A kit and method for assembling a frame supporting a stretched sheet includes a set of four stretcher bars, a set of braces, a stretching lever, and a sheet of material. A first stretcher bar can be initially attached to a first edge of the sheet. Remaining second, third, and fourth stretcher bars can be assembled with the first stretcher bar and corner braces to form a frame that rests upon the sheet. The stretching lever can be used to stretch the sheet between opposing stretcher bars just before the sheet is attached to a stretcher bar. The method of using a stretching lever as opposed to stretching pliers greatly reduces the time and difficulty of uniformly stretching the sheet.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed toward a system, an apparatus, and a kit for facilitating the mounting, transporting, and replacing of a canvas. The kit contains the components in a fashion that is well organized in an enclosure designed to hold the parts of a modular frame system, and a structure for holding the canvas. The modular frame system includes a modular frame assembly and elastic cords. The modular frame assembly includes connectors and frame parts that form a frame structure for securing down a canvas, and thereby forming a canvas display. The canvas is secured to the modular frame assembly by elastic cords that attach to rivet holes on the sides of the canvas; the elastic cords pull the canvas tightly over the modular frame assembly so that the canvas is displayed properly. The rivet holes may have a protective structure attached to protect the canvas from damage.
