    摘要: An inertia locking system for a seat of a vehicle includes a base member that is fixed to a seat structure and a Double D shaped shaft that rotates with a cam to allow the seat back to be adjusted. A movable inertia locking bracket has an opening including a circular portion and a slot portion. The Double D shaped shaft is disposed in the opening of the inertia locking bracket and includes flat opposite surfaces that prevent rotation of the Double D shaped shaft relative to the inertia bracket when the Double D shaped shaft is disposed in the slot portion of the opening. Acceleration causes the inertia locking bracket to slide forward such that the Double D shaped shaft is disposed in the elongate slot portion to prevent rotation of the Double D shaped shaft and prevent release of the seat back mechanism.

    摘要: Embodiments include object restraint systems and methods of their operation. The system is contained in a vehicle with a passenger compartment, and includes sensor and processing subsystems, a vessel, a restraint mechanism, and an actuator. The sensor subsystem produces a sensor signal indicating a magnitude of a sensed condition, and the processing subsystem asserts an actuator signal when the sensor signal indicates that a triggering condition has occurred. The vessel is configured to hold one or more inanimate objects. For example, the vessel may include a cupholder, a lidded or open compartment, a cargo area, or another storage space that is distinct from the passenger compartment. The actuator receives the actuator signal and activates the restraint mechanism in response to assertion of the actuator signal. The restraint mechanism, when activated, is configured to retain the object(s) within the vessel and to restrict the object(s) from entering the passenger compartment.

    摘要: An inflatable active bolster for a vehicle occupant, the active bolster comprising a front wall and a rear wall, the front and rear walls being interconnected to form a hollow chamber. The front wall has deformable features that permit the hollow chamber to volumetrically expand upon inflation of the hollow chamber by an inflator. The active bolster further includes a reaction plate for attachment of the active bolster to a suitable vehicle mount structure. The hollow chamber is attached to the reaction plate through a releasable engagement mechanism. The active bolster provides for snap-in installation, and easier detachment for servicing.

The system includes a movable bolster configured to move to contact the legs of the occupant and cause the feet of the occupant to move away from the floor of the vehicle. The system also includes a module positioned proximate the seat of the vehicle and including a movable rod linked to the bolster, wherein the module includes a gas generator configured to be activated to generate gas used to force the rod to move. The system also includes a controller that is configured to receive a signal from a vertical acceleration sensor and activate the gas generator when the signal from the sensor is indicative of a condition where the vertical acceleration of the vehicle exceeds a predetermined threshold.
