摘要: Right and left safety module embodiments are designed to be installed in insets located midway along right and left sides of flatbed trucks. The modules provide “man baskets” that have lower and upper platforms. While the truck is being driven alongside a roadway work zone, a workperson standing on the module's lower platform either 1) moves traffic delineators one at a time from the upper platform, and then places the delineators at spaced locations alongside the roadway work zone, or 2) removes traffic delineators one at a time from spaced locations alongside the roadway work zone, and then places the delineators onto the upper platform. Vertically movable safety rails and pivotal safety gates of the modules prevent falls from the modules of workpersons standing on the lower platform.

摘要: A vehicle safety seat for protecting a vehicle occupant from injury due to impact and airborne debris, in the event of a collision. The vehicle safety seat includes a seat bottom, a backrest, and a headrest, wherein the seat is secured to a frame. The frame is pivotally secured to the floor and frame of a vehicle, wherein the seat can recline immediately in advance of a collision for absorbing impact forces. The safety seat further includes telescoping shields that are retractably secured to the lateral sides of the seat bottom, backrest, and headrest. The shields are projected from the safety seat, creating a protective cocoon around the seat occupant prior to a collision. The seat is operably connected to one or more sensors that can detect an imminent collision between the vehicle and another object, wherein a pneumatic system deploys the shields and an electro-mechanical system reclines the seat.

摘要: A passenger seat is described for use with a vehicle seat and includes, a base, an attachment assembly, a restraint assembly, and a non-rigid back. The base includes a central front opening. The attachment assembly includes a plurality of straps, which are configured to adjustably secure the base to the vehicle seat. The restraint assembly includes a shoulder strap assembly, a crotch strap assembly, and an adjustment strap. The adjustment strap is in communication with the shoulder strap assembly, extending from the shoulder strap assembly through the base and out of the central front opening of the base. The adjustment strap assembly is configured to adjust the shoulder strap assembly in response to translation of the adjustment strap through the central front opening of the base. The back encompasses at least a portion of the restraint assembly and the attachment assembly.

摘要: An apparatus and method for forming a releasable lockable lap bar assembly that optimizes the resistance against lap bar axle and lap bar connecting arm slippage. The invention involves the use of a plurality of splines on the end of the lap bar axle that is coupled within a stop sleeve in the distal end of the lap bar connecting arm. The stop sleeve also includes a plurality of splines aligned with an axis of the sleeve. The plurality of splines on the lap bar axle are aligned with a lap bar axis. When the splined end of the axle is inserted into the stop sleeve, the respective plurality of splines interdigitate to form a tight engagement of the lap bar axle and the connecting arm. Bolts in apertures of the stop sleeve can also be used to further prevent the lap bar axle from backing out of the sleeve.

The restraint system may optionally be automatically actuated; that is, hands-free to the seat occupant or occupants where the restraint system is vehicle-wide. The restraint system may comprise a first component including an upper restraint and at least one secondary restraint apparatus such as an airbag or a belt system. The restraint system may have a manual override so an occupant can exit when circumstances require, even if the automated parameters would otherwise keep the restraints locked.

摘要: A divider, possibly made of soft but strong, sturdy foam, with the pending trademark name of The Backseat Buddy, to be secured in seats of automobiles, forming a physical barrier between passengers. This barrier can be used for children, pets, or adults. The foam needs to be soft enough to be safe for children and strong enough to hold it's shape, and durable. The width size can vary, depending on the size of the car, the space available between the seat belt buckles of the center seat, and the thickness needed for an effective barrier, but will initially be made in a 7 inch width. The height is set to prevent the backseat occupants from seeing each other, and allow most drivers unobstructed views for driving while providing the highest possible barrier, generally the height of the backseat of the vehicle. The initial height to be produced will be roughly 24 inches high. There is an additional rectangular prism shaped booster that can secure on the bottom of the divider to raise the height to provide a more effective barrier if needed. The profile of the divider is designed to fit securely against the back of the seat and the bottom of the seat. The front of the divider curves from the top back of the divider towards the front of the car and forms a curved quarter-circle shaped barrier. This shape allows the driver to view all passengers, maintain views out the windows, and still be an effective barrier without being so large as to be in the way. There is a notch cut out in the middle of the front curve for securing the divider. This notch provides a clear placement for the seatbelt or strap, and shortens the length of seatbelt or strap needed while still being a larger divider. This can be done with a lap belt, a shoulder/lap belt, or additional straps that secure to the latch devices of automobiles. The tighter the seat belt or strap, the more secure the divider is to the automobile. The divider and the booster have removable covers, and can have pockets on the exterior surface of various shapes and sizes to hold items such as water bottles, tissues, wipes.
