摘要: Methods and apparatus enable filling a receptacle with solid particles introduced into the receptacle with a controlled flow rate and pattern of distribution of the particles. A pneumatic loader may dispense the particles into the receptacle with ability to adjust the flow rate and pattern of distribution of the particles. Further, a laser sensor may enable detecting a topographic level of the particles loaded by movement of the laser sensor around a point to make linear measurements across the reactor at multiple angularly offset orientations.

摘要: Apparatus for transferring solid particles to a receptacle comprises a loading tube (2) surrounded at or near its base by a gas supply chamber (7) terminating in a Coanda surface (9). A slot (10) between the outlet from the loading tube (2) and the beginning of the Coanda surface (9) forms a Coanda nozzle. A throttle (3) is preferably fitted in the loading tube (2) to form an annulus (4) down which the particles flow to the slot (10). A gas supply line (8) preferably enters a gas supply (7) tangentially to supply gas to the Coanda nozzle. The apparatus is particularly suitable for loading catalyst into a reactor.

摘要: A process and an apparatus for substantially uniformly distributing glass fibers onto a forming bed. The apparatus is mounted above the bed for movement relative thereto along the length of the bed and is receptive of glass fibers for chopping same into desired lengths. A hood structure is downstream of the chopping and comprises three chambers. A first chamber defining a receiving zone in the process receives the chopped glass fibers which are dropped into the hood and a second chamber defining a dispersing zone is in communication with the first chamber and downstream thereof and disperses the glass fibers received from the first chamber to effect a random uniform matrix thereof along the width of the bed. The dispersion is carried out by a turbulence that is created within the chamber. The third chamber defining a distributing zone is disposed downstream of the second chamber and has an adjustable length elongated outlet aperture which extends across a desired width of the bed. The third chamber receives the dispersed glass fibers in the random uniform matrix and substantially isolates the fibers therein from the turbulence in the second chamber for substantially uniformly distributing the glass fibers therein on the desired width of the bed by dropping same through the aperture during relative movement of the apparatus along the length of the bed.

摘要: An improved apparatus for distributing particulate material, e.g., comprising catalyst particles, over a zone, e.g., chemical reaction zone, comprising:A supply hopper, having an inlet and an outlet, for holding particulate material;A deflection plate located adajcent to the end of the outlet away from said supply hopper to deflect the direction of at least a portion of the particulate material flowing through the outlet; andAt least one conduit in fluid communication with at least one source of gaseous media, the conduit being situated such that at least a portion of the gaseous media from the conduit flow in the space between the end of the outlet away from the supply hopper and the deflection plate to thereby cause at least a portion of the particulate material to be propelled in substantially the same direction as the flow.An improved method for placing particulate material in a zone has also been discovered.
