摘要: There is provided a glass substrate for a display device, a liquid crystal display panel, and a liquid crystal display device capable of eliminating the display unevenness of a display panel having undergone the cell assembly and eliminating the need for a post-process or simplifying the post-process. A liquid crystal panel 30 includes two pieces of glass 10 and 32 opposed to each other; a liquid crystal layer 34 injected between the two plates of the glass 10 and 32; and spherical spacers 33a and 33b arranged so as to abut on the respective surfaces of the two pieces of glass 10 and 32. The glass 10 is 1.1 mm in thickness, wherein if a period D of a filtered waviness curve over a spatial frequency range of 2 to 500 lines/mm based on spectral analysis is greater than 20 mm under the measurement condition of a cut-off value of 0.8 to 8 mm, then an amplitude A of the filtered waviness curve is 2 μm or less, and the amplitude A, when the period D is 20 mm or less, is 18 nm or greater.

摘要: The present invention relates to a process for the manufacture of glass sheets, according to which molten glass is poured into a liquid support which is denser than the glass to form a glass strip. The glass strip is drawn and is accompanied in its movement using a continuous and flexible guiding element made of a solid material capable of adhering to the molten glass, the elements being brought into contact with the side edges of the strip. The product (P) of the value (s) of the speed of the strip and of the value (t) of its final thickness is less than 2.5.times.10.sup.-4 m.sup.2 s.sup.-1. The process makes it possible to obtain thin glass sheets exhibiting a constant thickness and a satisfactory optical quality.

摘要: A method of producing thin sheet glass by the float process, in which molten glass is formed into a thin layer on the surface of molten metal by making molten glass pass through a vertically narrow gap given by a sluice wall which extends above and transversely of the molten metal bath, and the molten glass layer is stretched to further reduce its thickness. By forming the sluice wall with a slant surface on the front side facing a pool of molten glass so as to smoothly introduce the molten glass into the gap beneath the wall and by using a practically isotropic graphite which is not greater than 23% in its porosity as the material of the sluice wall, defectless sheet glass thinner than 1 mm can be obtained. Preferably the porosity of the graphite is at least 9%. For the quality of the sheet glass, it is favorable to form the sluice wall with a vertical surface on the rear side and another slant surface which interposes between the lower edge of the slant front surface and the lower edge of the vertical rear surface to allow the molten metal beneath the wall to smoothly raise its level from a lowered level beneath the molten glass pool.

摘要: In a method of forming a thin sheet glass by the float process, a thin layer of molten glass is formed by making molten glass flow through a sluice formed on the surface of a molten metal bath, and the glass layer is drawn lengthways of the bath to further reduce its thickness and advance while its upper surface is exposed to a cooled atmosphere. The sluice is a vertically narrow gap between the surface of the molten metal and a lower end face of a wall extending above and transversely of the molten metal bath. By shaping a lower end portion of this wall and avoiding particularly heating the molten glass in the vicinity of the sluice, it has become possible to obtain defectless sheet glass thinner than one millimeter.

摘要: A float glass facility which is readily adaptable to the production of float glass ribbons of different thicknesses and particularly to so-called thick or heavy float glass, that is, thicknesses greater than 0.250 inch (6mm). Longitudinally extending fenders are installed to limit the ultimate lateral flow of the glass, and the splay of extension tiles pivotally connected to the restrictor tiles is adjusted to suitably limit the initial spread of the molten glass on the molten bath before it is delivered between the fenders. The adjacent ends of the extension and restrictor tiles meet in an enclosed joint which permits angular adjustment between the members without interference by the molten glass and bath of molten metal.

The apparatus comprises a molten metal bath, at least two widthcontrolling mechanisms provided on both sides of the bath, and a delivery roll provided on exit side of the bath. Each widthcontrolling mechanism has a rotary member having a plurality of projections capable of freely rotating with the advance of the glass ribbon. And an angle of less than 45* is formed by the plain containing the rotary member with respect to the direction of advance of the glass ribbon.
