Abstract:
A portable, resealable storage container and a method for manufacture are provided. The container includes a body having a bottom opposite an opening, and sidewalls attached to the bottom, wherein the body defines a storage cavity. A top having an attachment band and a flap operable to connect to and disconnect from the attachment band covers the opening of the body when connected to the body. A ridge is disposed along an outer surface of the sidewalls and is configured to provide a seat for the attachment band of the top. A mating surface disposed at an upper end of the sidewalls above the ridge and is operable to contact the attachment band of the top. When the top is positioned to sit atop the ridge, the attachment band is in substantially continuous contact with the mating surface. The top is securely fastened to the body.
Abstract:
A device for adding extra stuffing to quilted items. A trapunto rod consists of a tube 10 which holds the stuffing material, an ejection means (piston) 14 driven by a linear drive means (inner rod) 12 which slides inside the tube and ejects the stuffing material at a specific location between the layers of a quilted item, and a handle 16 which stops the piston at its ejecting limit.
Abstract:
A sewing tool is provided which has a plurality of apertures therein, each of which is trapezoidal in shape. The apertures are different sizes with respect to one another, each to be used for a different size box-bottom sewn item, such as a tote bag. A method of using such a sewing tool to create an item such as a box-bottom tote bag is also provided.

Abstract:
The present invention provides apparatus and method for the creation of appliques for quilting. Employing a shape plate with an opening in the desired shape of the applique and a corresponding template adapted to be inserted into the opening, quilting material can be easily flattened through ironing or similar methods into uniform and readily applied appliques. The present invention permits the efficient and safe production of even intricate appliques and lends itself to many improvements.
Abstract:
A device for facilitating the efficient and even quilt binding finishing is described. The device comprises: a base member, rod member and spool member.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is an afghan incorporating personalized or commemorative indicia and a method for constructing the afghan. The individual pieces of the afghan incorporate the characters and symbols of the indicia at the point of fabrication so that the afghan is complete when the pieces are joined together. The method involves determining the event to be commemorated, choosing the specific indicia to be incorporated into the afghan and anticipating the use for the completed afghan. The size of the afghan and of the individual pieces are determined as well as the number of pieces to be fabricated. A grid is constructed representing the number and arrangement of the pieces so that the characters and symbols making up the indicia may be suitably positioned within the grid and within the completed afghan to provide the most esthetic result. The craft method is then chosen as well as the type and colors of the yarn and the implement or implements needed in the fabrication. A test piece is fabricated and the quantity of yarn of each color is determined. The individual pieces are fabricated, properly arranged according to the grid, and joined together.
Abstract:
A textile fabric comprising a plurality of pieces of fabric material cut into strips, which are then placed adjacent to one another and interlaced. The interlaced strips are situated transverse of one another and allow for overlapping edges. Recessed from these edges along a generally parallel line are rows of stitching employed to join the pieces of fabric. The result enables the appearance of a simulated patchwork design.A method to construct a textile fabric with the realistic appearance of patchwork design comprising the steps of providing pieces of fabric material formed into strips of generally equal length and width, placing a first series of the strips in juxtaposed relation and a second series of the strips in a juxtaposed relation and situated transverse to and covering the first series of strips, interlacing the two series of strips to form a top and bottom surface of textile fabric, arranging the transversely related series of strips so that their edges overlap, and stitching the series of strips along a line generally parallel to and recessed from the edges.
