摘要:
A retractable awning includes a roller reversibly driven and mounted within a housing for support on a support structure and both inner and outer sets of pivotally interconnected support arms for supporting an awning canopy when extended. The inner set of support arms support the canopy beneath an inner segment of the canopy adjacent the support surface and are designed to deploy before the outer set of support arms with the outer set of support arms supporting the canopy beneath an outer segment of the canopy further away from the support surface than the inner segment. Both the inner and outer sets of support arms can be partially or fully deployed to regulate the extent to which the awning is extendible away from the support surface. The outer support arms are mounted for pivotal movement within a plane forming a different angle with horizontal than the inner set of support arms so the inner segment of the canopy above the inner set of support arms when extended forms a different angle with horizontal than does the outer segment of the awning canopy overlying the outer set of support arms when extended.

Awning Support is an adjustable device that can be placed at a variety of locations on an awning to prevent sag in the awning and corresponding water pooling on the top of the awning as well as reduce tearing and noise from the awning. To use the preferred embodiment of Awning Support, a user chooses a recreational vehicle or structural awning in need of additional support. A pin located on a handle of a bar is attached to one side of the awning and structure or vehicle while a flat end on the opposite side of the bar is attached to the opposite side of the awning. Ideally, the device will be placed centrally on the awning but it could be used wherever the awning is sagging. The length of the bar can be adjusted by pushing the bar into the handle to compress a compression spring or by pushing a button on the handle to allow the compression spring to expand.

A golf cart club bag protection device having a folding canopy which allows other accessories, such as coolers and sand bottles, to be mounted underneath. The device has four components: a securing frame (1), an attachment bar (22), canopy support bars (2) and (3) and a canopy (4), (5) and (16). The securing frame (1) is shaped so as to have two vertical legs (21) and a horizontal top bar (23) while the attachment bar (22) has a unique shape so as to raise the pivotal point of the device. Tabs (8) are located at the base of the legs (21) wherein the support bars (2) and (3) are pivotally attached to the securing frame (1). The attachment bar (22) has two C-shaped clamps (6) which are used to secure the securing frame (1) to the golf bag support bar (18). The horizontal top bar (23) has a canopy holder (11) which holds the removably attached canopy (4), (5) and (16), a canopy flap (13) and a canopy fastener (15) in order for the user to keep the golf cart club bag protection device in an upright position.

A retractable top cover and awning for recreational vehicles, modular homes, and the like, includes a mechanism for deploying and retracting a flexible top cover and awning panel over the roof of the vehicle and along a side wall of the vehicle to shade both the vehicle roof and any windows or doors in the side wall. A flexible top cover and awning panel is wound and stored on a roller housed in an elongated housing having a removable housing cover. Swinging deployment arms extend the flexible top cover and awning panel from the storage roller. Motors are used to open the housing cover, to turn the roller to assist in rolling or unrolling the flexible top cover and awning panel, and to swing the deployment arms during extension and retraction of the flexible top cover and awning panel.

A retractable awning which finds a particular use on recreational vehicles, mobile homes or the like having slide-out units is mounted on the side of the vehicle and has longitudinally extensible support arms that support a roll bar having the outer edge of an awning sheet secured thereto with the inner edge being secured to the side wall of the vehicle. The awning is movable between a retracted position adjacent to the side wall of the vehicle and an extended position with the support arms being biased toward their extended position with internal gas springs so that initial movement of the awning from the retracted to the extended position allows the support arms to automatically longitudinally extend providing a large arc for the roll bar which allows it to clear or extend above and beyond an extended slide-out unit.

In an awning such as a house trailer or recreational vehicle awning, plural ribs are disposed against the underside of the awning. The ribs run transversely from the wall to the tube which supports the outboard end of the awning; this tube is horizontal, and parallel to the wall. The ribs are flexible, and slightly longer than the distance from the wall to the tube. When the ribs are put into place they acquire an upward bow, which crowns the surface of the awning. This encourages water runoff, decreases wind flapping, and improves appearance. Each rib has two parts for length adjustment. One part has an integral clamp to hold the other part in a fixed position; when the clamp is loosened the two parts can slide relatively. To hold the ribs in position various means may be used, including rib end pockets on the awning, straps, and fingers on one rib end mating with holes in the tube surface. The clamp may have a stiffening element attached by screws, and has an opening at each longitudinal end into which is inserted a projection on one end of a truss bar. The other end of the truss bar is attached to a rib by a truss knob to provide additional strength to the rib. In a second embodiment a slidable and lockable bracket mounted on a track pivotally holds one end of a rib having a circular cross-section, the other end of the rib being attached the tube.

An awning having a frame including a bearing arm on each side which may move between a vertical relatively flat position for the awning when the awning canopy is retracted to an extended canopy forming position for the awning when the canopy is drawn out, wherein said bearing member is further supported and positioned, especially in the extended position, by a nut which is moveable on an adjustable member to predetermine the canopy formation of the awning, which nut may also be provided with a locking device to limit or prevent movement of the bearing member from an extended position toward a flat position on the occurrence of wind gusts.

A box-like housing, made of formstable, rigid material such as extruded aluminum has a holder for an awning roll therein, the awning roll terminating in a terminal bar, likewise an extruded aluminum or other light-weight metal member. The terminal bar is connected to the housing by jointed, articulated arms which are secured to the housing itself by bearing members attached to a transverse rail hooked into the housing so that a single box-like structure is provided which can be secured to a support surface, such as a wall, and additional attachments of support arms, and the like, are avoided. Adjustable stops limit the angle of inclination permitted to the bearings for the arms, so that the angle of the projecting awning can be adjusted. The projecting arms are made of interfitting light-weight metal sections, such as a generally U-shaped section into which a trapeze-shaped section fits, the awning housing being formed with a recess against which a brush can bear to clean the awning as it is rolled in or out.

A bow system is provided for coupling between a pair of arm members of an awning structure in a mounting region located beneath an area corresponding to a leading portion of an awning sheet thereof. A bow member of the bow system is aligned generally parallel to a lead member of the awning structure and is configured to flex upwardly to elevate a portion of the awning sheet when the awning is in a deployed configuration to prevent the accumulation of water or debris thereon. The bow member may automatically flex as the awning structure moves from a retracted configuration toward the deployed configuration. Other prop devices and methods of preventing the accumulation of water or debris on awning structures using bow systems and other prop devices are also provided.
