    摘要: The present invention relates in general to subsurface drilling tools, and more specifically, to a drill bit comprising a ball shaped cutting tool. The drill bit is configured so that a plurality of cones, forming the ball shaped cutting tool, rotate in opposite directions around an axle while the drill bit is drilling or cutting through the ground, rock, or other material. The drilling or cutting is accomplished by a plurality of blade inserts that fit inside and protrude therefrom a plurality of holes covering the exterior of the ball shaped cutting tool. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a new and improved subsurface drilling tool that will efficiently drill hard rock formations.

The first [115] and a second [116] mounting ends are shaped to enable a rotationally fixed positioning of the bearing journal [100] in a yoke of a corresponding cutter head-plate support bracket. A row of ball-bearing races [126] is recessed to extend circumferentially about the exterior surface of the journal body [122]. A ball loading passage [118] is formed to extend as a clear bore axially outward through the journal body [122] of the bearing journal [100].

    摘要: A raise boring head includes a roller cutter body and a saddle intended for rotary drilling in earth and rock formations. The roller cutter body is rotatably journalled on a shaft that is provided with two shaft spigots at its opposite ends. Each spigot has a second support surface provided for cooperation with a first support surface of the saddle to hold the roller cutter to the saddle. Each shaft spigot is provided with a hole for receiving a fastener that also passes through the second support surface in order to connect the shaft spigot to the saddle. The first support surface and the second support surface are curved. The first support surface and the second support surface connect directly or indirectly to stop shoulders for counteracting rotation of the shaft. The fastener is eccentric to the shaft axis and arranged to press the stop surfaces together.

The support arms (30) at their distal end provide further support for the cutter journals (70). The hole opener (10) also may provide pressure compensated lubrication mechanism (71) to provide grease to the bearing surfaces to increase their service life and thereby extend the useful life of the tool.
