Some systems for use in a mining operation include: a continuous miner configured to cut material from a face; a plurality of powered roof supports positioned along the face; and a guidance system operable to receive a location signal based on relative location of the continuous miner along the face and to send a control signal to the plurality of powered roof supports positioned along the face.

    摘要: In mining excavations a gate automatically advancing support which is shiftable, by a simple operation simultaneously with the shift of a conveyor is provided. There are a plurality of support members for supporting the roof between the front and rear ends of the drive unit on the gate side of the gate road; said plurality of support members each consist of a front and a rear support, both of which are separately formed; these front and rear supports each have roof bars which are connected through couplings; said front and rear supports including roof bars are adopted to be simultaneously advanced by the actuation of shifters; a link mechanism connecting roof bars and a skid of each support controls the motion of said roof bars and skid; and the front supports of respective support members hold a skid of a charge conveyor therebetween, so that the gate self-advancing support is shifted in a desired direction, and the adjustment of the advancing direction of the support is not required.

    摘要: A self-advancing support apparatus for protecting mine gate crossings, and optionally for engaging the reversing/driving head of a longwall and/or gate conveyor. The support apparatus has at least two side by side desired construction but expediently of a construction identical with that of the support unit at the longwall face to which said unit is connected via a coupling element. Each unit includes a base, a canopy, and connected between them, expediently by articulation, bracing elements as well as advancing elements and holding devices mounted on the base, and if so desired, for advancing the reversing/driving head of the longwall conveyor, a guide track extending in the direction of the gate conveyor, and an actuating/controlling unit. A holding mechanism is provided for engaging the reversing/driving head of the longwall conveyor and has at least two degrees of freedom of movement. An extendible cantilever is connected to the canopy, and at least one device for directional guidance connects the units together and expediently is in the form of a jack.

    摘要: In longwall mining wherein a mine roof is normally supported by a succession of arches each in turn supported at one mine wall on a respective leg, a plurality of vertically expensible holders are pressed up against a plurality of respective adjacent arches with a common first beam, and legs of the thus-supported arches are removed so that the mine wall can be worked at this location. For advancing along the longwall all of the holders except the holder at one end of the row of holders are pressed upwardly against the respective arches with a second beam. The leg of the arch of the end holder is replaced and then the first beam is dropped down away from the row of holders. The end holder is then displaced to the opposite end of the row and the first beam is advanced toward this other end and the end holder is positioned under the arch immediately adjacent the other end. Then all of these holders including the end holder are pressed upwardly by the first beam against the respective arches and the second beam is dropped downward and displaced toward the other end. The leg of the newly supported arch can then be removed and the mine wall can be worked where this leg has been removed. Each of these beams is vertically displaceable relative to a lower beam by means of hydraulic cylinders and further hydraulic cylinders interconnect the lower beams for longitudinal stepping of the entire assembly.
