    Abstract: A valve arrangement for a pressurizable vessel includes a valve member mountable on a vessel for movement relative thereto. The valve member is formed with a passage which extends over part of the length of the valve member. A valve-actuating assembly is removably mountable on the vessel. The assembly includes a fitting surrounding the valve member with clearance at the exterior of the vessel, a housing movably mounted within the fitting, and force-transmitting elements partially received within the housing and operative for displacing the valve member between an open position in which the passage communicates the vessel interior with the clearance so as to permit fluid flow between the interior and exterior of the vessel, and a closed position in which such fluid flow is prevented.

    Abstract: A hydraulic accumulator prevents oil with gas entrained in it from exiting the accumulator. The accumulator comprises a completely static structure which provides laminar flow of oil from a gas pad to the accumulator outlet. The laminar flow is preferably provided by a plurality of tubes disposed between the gas pad and the outlet, each tube having a substantially greater length than the largest cross-sectional dimension. The tubes are preferably rigid and circular in cross-section, and the passageways defined between the tubes also have a substantially greater length than the largest cross-sectional dimension. The accumulator can either be a low pressure accumulator or a high pressure accumulator. With a high pressure accumulator it is desirable to provide a float switch or like sensor to ensure that the tubes within a tube bundle are always fully immersed in oil. The accumulator is particularly useful in association with an atmospheric or pressure diffuser for treating paper pulp, which includes one or more screens which are hydraulically reciprocated.

    Abstract: Apparatus for attaching internal parts to the interior of a pressure vessel having an inner lining of uncured rubber includes a rigid fastener, preferably an internally threaded nut, rigidly secured over an opening through the wall of the vessel and the rubber lining. A rigid bolt is threaded through the nut from the inside of the vessel so that a lateral shoulder on the bolt is tightened against the rubber lining. A layer of uncured rubber is mounted over the shoulder, and the layer is cured when the inner lining is being cured to embed the shoulder in the rubber and seal the bolt against leakage. Internal parts are attached to the portion of the bolt inside the vessel, and the structural load applied to the bolt by the internal parts is transmitted to the wall of the vessel through the rigid bolt and nut.
