摘要:
A hold down mechanism for releasably securing a refractory lining to a furnace. The hold down mechanism can comprise plate segments that form a composite plate. The plate segments can comprise a first plate segment structured to articulate relative to a second plate segment. Furthermore, a gap in the hold down mechanism can be structured to adjust in response to a thermal condition of the composite plate, such as thermal expansion or thermal contraction of at least one plate segment. The composite plate can also comprise an articulation plate pivotally coupled to at least one of the first plate segment and the second plate segment via a pivot and/or a slot and pin engagement. The composite plate can further comprise a third plate segment and a second articulation plate pivotally coupled to at least one of the second plate segment and the third plate segment.

A method for securing a hot face insulation to a cold face insulation of an enclosed heating area includes (a) providing a first insulating material having a first and second side; (b) providing a second insulating material having a first and second side, wherein the second insulating material provides for higher temperature insulation than the first insulating material, wherein the first side of the first insulating material is positioned against and secured to the interior surface of the enclosed heating area; (c) positioning the second insulating material against the first insulating material so that the first side of the second insulating material abuts the second side of the first insulating material; (d) providing an auger bolt as an anchor; and (e) inserting the auger bolt into the second side of the second insulating material, through the second insulating material, and into the second side of the first insulating material.

A ceramic fiber block includes a welding stud disposed between two ceramic fiber layers centrally positioned in the ceramic fiber block. The welding stud includes a base stud which at its one end to be welded to a furnace wall and having a ceramic ferrule and at the other end formed with screw threads, an electrode rod having screw threads at its one end in the ceramic fiber block, and first and second nuts connecting the screw threaded ends of the base stud and electrode rod. The ceramic fiber block further includes an anchor bar between the centrally positioned ceramic fiber layers so as to perpendicularly intersect the welding stud, a pair of piercing rods piercing the whole ceramic fiber layers, a ferrule temporarily fixing agent such as an adhesive for temporarily fixing the ferrule to the end of the base stud, and a pair of platforms associated with the piercing rods for enabling hanger mounting studs to be provided at a predetermined interval, the hanger mounting studs provided with hangers for electric furnace heating elements. After the distal end of the base stud is melted and urged against the furnace wall through an electrode rod by means of a welding machine, so that the pair of piercing rods are urged toward the furnace wall through the anchor rod engaging the welding stud, thereby firmly fixing the ceramic fiber block in a prestressed condition to the furnace wall.

Disclosed is a heat chamber wall having an insulating lining comprised of at least one row of modules of heat insulating material. Each module is comprised of a length of material folded over to define at least two side portions with a bight portion. The modules are supported by a module rod extending through its associated module. A mounting clip is secured to the module rod and extends to one side thereof. The clip has an aperture of predetermined configuration extending therethrough along an axis offset and generally perpendicular to the axis of the module rod. Elongated generally straight hangers dimensioned to extend through the aperture in the mounting clip and to bind therewith in locking fashion when the axis of the aperture is tilted relative to the axis of the hanger rod under the elastic compressive force exerted by the modules.

A lightweight ladle cover employing ceramic fiber mats in modules. The modules are formed by having the generally rectilinear mat folded into five adjacent sections, the first of which depends vertically toward the "hot" side of the cover but is sandwiched between the second, third and fourth sections which form a vertical, horizontal ("hot" side) and vertical U-shape configuration about the first section. The last section is folded to extend horizontally to overlay part of the next module. The modules are anchored to an expanded metal wall at the "cold" side of the cover by an anchoring system which employs flat bars with spaced apart threaded studs welded to one flat side of the bar. In assembly, the studs are pierced through the mat at the junction of the first and second sections and then passed through openings in the expanded metal wall and secured by a washer and nut arrangement. The modules are then held by two bar-stud assemblies. The modules can be assembly by the process of laying down successive mats, securing them with anchoring asemblies, folding them in place and then repeating the process.

An attaching assembly is disclosed which permits attachment of ceramic fiber to a back plate. The assembly includes a stud retainer plate having a perforation, such as at the center of the plate. The stud retainer plate can be affixed to a perforate backing element, e.g., a metal mesh. On the side of the stud retainer plate opposite the backing element, there is a tube retainer. This tube retainer is secured to the stud retainer plate. An elongated, removable tube can be inserted into the tube retainer. A stud can be inserted through the removal tube, and through the retainer plate perforation and perforate backing element. The stud is then welded to a back plate, e.g., a solid furnace wall. A refractory element inserted in the retainer plate perforation insulates the stud from the retainer plate to prevent arcing during welding. After welding, the removable tube, which during welding is surrounded by ceramic fiber, is removed, thereby providing a continuous ceramic fiber hot face covering the attachment assembly.

An excellent ceramic fiber furnace is provided which prevents formation or peeling-off of minute ceramic fibers from a ceramic fiber board of the furnace caused by elevation or lowering of the furnace temperature. As a result, firing methods of using a muffle furnace, a reflector system or a brick wall furnace, etc., which necessitate a large heat source and which have inferior heat efficiencies and small temperature-raising or lowering rates, need not be used, so that investment cost and running cost can be decreased, firing of ceramic products is facilitated, the quality of the ceramic products is improved, and the firing time of the ceramic products can be decreased. The ceramic fiber furnace has a furnace wall of a structure composed of a substrate member, a wall of ceramic fibers applied on the inner surface of the substrate member, a ceramic fiber board applied on the inner surface of the wall of the ceramic fibers, and a ceramic pin penetrating through the furnace wall, comprising a ceramic plate interposed between the ceramic nut and the ceramic board, the ceramic plate having a penetration hole which has a larger diameter than the diameter of the ceramic pin for allowing free displacement of the ceramic pin therein.

A lining element for heat treatment furnaces comprises lining material consisting of insulating material, an elongate supporting element for transversely piercing the lining material, and elongate fastening members for attachment of the element to the interior furnace wall provided at both ends of the supporting element. The free ends of the fastening members are provided with projections extending transversely to the longitudinal direction of the fastening members at the height of a planar interior surface of the element, which surface will be closest to the interior furnace wall.

A center mount module of ceramic fibers having internal hardware adapted to engage a prior art anchor stud and guide the module into place on the internal wall of a furnace. The module may be a plurality of edge stacked mats or loop folded mats; the edge grain forms both the hot and the cold face of the installed module in the former case whereas, in the latter, either the loops or the edge grain may form the cold face but a looped cold face is preferred. The mats are joined together by an elongate tine having a central hole therein and lying in a plane between and substantially parallel to the hot and cold faces of the module. A notched tube disposed between adjacent mats straddles the tine in co-axial relationship with the central hole of the tine.
