    摘要: An ammunition system and associated ammunition for firearms, particularly for muzzleloader firearms, having a predetermined amount of propellant charge housed in a casing, and a separate projectile having a sabot. The casing has a cap sealing the casing muzzle end such that the cap and the sabot provide seals to trap propellant gases within the barrel behind the projectile upon firing. The cap top end and sabot bottom end interlock in mechanical communication with one another upon firing allowing the projectile exiting the barrel muzzle end to be responsive to the barrel rifling. The barrel breech end has a chamber bushing for receiving the casing and a tapered muzzle end to prohibit the projectile from entering the casing.

    摘要: A projectile launcher includes a barrel, a high pressure chamber included within the barrel, and a low pressure area included within the barrel and substantially surrounding the high pressure chamber. The high pressure chamber includes an inner cavity and multiple vent holes connecting the inner cavity to the low pressure area so that high pressure gases generated in the inner cavity by a pressure cartridge can pass from the inner cavity to the low pressure area and propel a round (or projectile) out of the launcher.

    摘要: A muzzle-loader bullet system includes a pre-packaged propellant charge and primer for providing efficient loading and unloading of the muzzleloader. The muzzleloader accepts in the breech end the propellant containment vessel that abuts against a constriction portion with a reduced diameter portion. The propellant containment vessel having an end portion with a tapered surface that conforms to the constriction portion surface. A projectile is inserted in the muzzle end and seats against the constriction portion. The propellant containment vessel may be received in a removable breech plug. The constriction portion may be part of the breech plug or a separate component secured in the barrel by way of the breech plug. The containment vessel further comprises a primer mechanism that may be integrated into the proximal end of the containment vessel.

    摘要: The present invention relates to an automatic charge magazine (1) for storage and handling of propellent powder charges of the modular charges and/or powder bag charges type, also termed increment charges (4), for projectiles, for example shells, which are arranged in a fireable manner, together with the increment charges (4), in an artillery gun, preferably of the vehicle-mounted artillery gun type, wherein the charge magazine (1) comprises a plurality of charge containers (5, 5′, 5″) arranged in a drivable revolving track, which charge containers (5, 5′, 5″) are arranged to assume feed-in and feed-out positions (2, 11) for the feed-in and feed-out of at least one increment charge (4) to and from the charge containers (5, 5′, 5″). The invention can principally be deemed to be characterized in that the charge magazine (1) also comprises at least one ejection member (15, 31, 32, 33, 34), which ejection member, in response to control signals (i2) from the said control unit (22), ejects one or more increment charges (4) from the respective charge container (5, 5′, 5″)/applied in the feed-out position, to a loading tray (18) belonging to the gun.

    摘要: A weapon system uses caseless munitions. In order to permit a further use of the weapon system essentially without delay on jamming, a configuration of the weapon system is disclosed that has a weapon barrel, a projectile magazine with individual chambers and a propellant charge magazine with individual chambers. In order to guarantee a firing position, the projectile magazine and the propellant charge magazine, may be moved relative to the weapon barrel. The projectile magazine has a chamber located in a discharge position in which an ejector device for the projectile in the chamber may be activated. A further chamber of the projectile magazine may be loaded in the movement position for the projectile magazine and the propellant charge magazine has a chamber, located in a discharge position in which an ejector device for the propellant charge in the chamber may be activated. The further chamber of the propellant charge magazine may be loaded in the movement position of the propellant charge magazine.

    摘要: In an apparatus and method for separate rapid ramming of shells and propellant charges in a heavy artillery gun in which shells and propellant charges, up to the loading operation are separately stored and separately fed to each respective ramming position in the barrel of the gun, the gun includes two magazines disposed one on each side of the barrel of the gun and the loading apparatus for transferring shells and propellant charges to the breech of the barrel. The loading apparatus includes at least one loading cradle with a first track for shells and a second track for propellant charges, each track having a free-flight rammer. The loading cradle is inwardly pivotally mounted between a replenishment position on a side of the gun barrel and in immediate association with a magazine from which the shells and the propellant charges are loaded into the respective tracks and a ramming position in which the first and second tracks are alternately aligned with the main axis of the gun barrel for separately and successively throwing by the free-flight rammer the shells and propellant charges along their respective tracks into their ramming position in the gun barrel. The magazines and the loading cradle are connected with an elevating system of the gun to follow its movements and are therefore be always parallel with the main axis of the gun barrel.

    摘要: A large caliber cannon such as a 155 mm Howitzer uses ammunition rounds consisting of a projectile and a propellant charge which are loaded in sequence into the breech of the cannon. The cannon is mounted on a gun carriage and is free to move in elevation on the carriage about an elevation axis. The carriage is controllable in azimuth for gun pointing. Storage drums for holding a plurality of projectiles and charges are mounted on the carriage. Projectile trays and propellant charge trays are positioned to receive the projectiles and their propellant charges from the storage drums. The trays are pivotally mounted on cradle arms so that they may be rotated between a receiving position and a gun loading position. The cradle arms are pivotally mounted on the gun carriage so that they may be moved between the elevation of the receiving position and a position in alignment with the breech when the cannon is being trained. A control is provided which actuates mechanism to transfer the projectiles and charges from the storage drums to the trays and from the trays to the breech. The control monitors the position of the system mechanical components and actuates them in appropriate sequence so that a series of ammunition rounds are delivered from the drums to the breech.
