    摘要： Disclosed herein is a tape rule comprising a housing 1, a measuring tape (abbreviated as tape only) 2, a reel 3 for the tape 2 to wind around, a spring 4 for winding the tape 2 back to the reel 3, an arc shaped strap 12 disposed at the periphery of the reel 3 to be freely slidable therearound, a stopper 11 including a push button 13 exposed outside of the housing 1, and a claw 14 for locking the tape 2 pulled out of the housing 1 at an end to of the stopper 11. Furthermore, a brake shoe 15 is integrally formed at the inner surface of the arc shaped strap 12 of the stopper 11 for releasing the locking state made by the claw 14 so that when the tape 2 is automatically winding back around the reel 3 by a resilient force of the spring 4. The tape 2 may be made in contact with the edge of the reel 3 to reduce its retracting speed through pushing the push button 13 towards the radius center of the reel 3.

The braking strips have arcuate middle portions which are provided at concave surfaces with two rows of discontinued pressing blocks corresponding to circumferential edges of two side plates of the reel, such that when the arcuate middle portions of the braking strips projecting from the case of the tape measure are depressed, the pressing blocks frictionally contact with the circumferential edges of the reel and stop the reel from rotating backward, and therefore, the tape is prevented from rewinding after it has been pulled outward for measuring purpose.

    摘要： A coilable member, such as a measuring tape, is replaceably supported within a device for extension and recoiling. A separable casing defines an aperture through which a coilable member can be extracted and retracted, and has an interior portion defining a bearing surface for supporting for rotation a first reel adapted to retain a spring secured to the reel. The first reel rotatably supports a second reel adapted to support the coilable member secured thereto and extending through the aperture defined by the casing. The second reel is supported in the casing by the first reel for relative axial movement with respect to the first reel. Braking means, which can include an annular member having teeth which engage at least one of the reels, rotates therewith in the casing substantially freely in one direction, while causing retardation of the rotation of the reel in the opposite direction through frictional engagement with the side of the casing. The device can further include a rotatable member accessible for rotation through an aperture in the casing for tensioning a spring retained by the first reel.

    摘要： A tape measuring device including an outer casing and a coiled metal tape disposed within the casing which may be retracted or withdrawn through a slot in the front of the casing. In addition, a consumable marker and a scriber are disposed within the casing immediately forward of and along side of the slot through which the coiled tape is withdrawn. Either the consumable marker or the scriber may be positioned via manual actuating means to mark an object being measured at a preselected point along the length of the extended tape. Braking means are disposed within the casing which, when actuated, engage the tape and lock it into position relative to the casing. The braking mechanism is automatically activated when either the consumable marker or the scriber is positioned for marking the object being measured. In addition, the braking means may be activated without marking or engraving the object being measured. A plurality of feed segments disposed within the casing operate to insure that the marker continues to contact the workpiece even though its length is diminished over a period of usage.
