    摘要: A retractable rule assembly includes a housing assembly and a reel rotatably mounted in the housing assembly. An elongated blade formed of a ribbon of metal having one end connected to the reel is constructed and arranged with respect to the housing assembly to extend from a position tangential to the reel outwardly through a spaced opening in the housing assembly. A coil spring formed of a ribbon of metal has a construction and arrangement between the housing assembly and the reel to rotate the reel in the housing assembly in a direction to wind up the elongated blade when extending outwardly of the housing assembly opening in a normal concavo-convex cross-sectional configuration onto the reel in an abutting volute coil formation in a flattened cross-sectional configuration. A blade holding assembly is constructed and arranged to be manually actuated to hold the blade in any position of extension outwardly of the housing assembly opening and to release the blade from any position in which it is held. The blade has a blade width, thickness and height of concavo-convex curvature sufficient to enable the blade to stand out arcuately a length measured along the blade of at least 10.5 feet with a horizontal linear length of standout thereof being greater than 97% of the arcuate length of standout.

Furthermore, a brake shoe 15 is integrally formed at the inner surface of the arc shaped strap 12 of the stopper 11 for releasing the locking state made by the claw 14 so that when the tape 2 is automatically winding back around the reel 3 by a resilient force of the spring 4. The tape 2 may be made in contact with the edge of the reel 3 to reduce its retracting speed through pushing the push button 13 towards the radius center of the reel 3.

    摘要: A pushing suspending device of a measuring tape has a housing, a rule and a suspending device, with the rule curled within the housing, and protecting disk covers installed on the two sides of the rule. The suspending device includes a contacting pressing piece and a suspending switch. One end of the contacting pressing piece is embedded within the housing, and another end of which is formed with a cambered contacting plate. A pushing key is projected upwards from the center of the plate. An opening is located on the lower end of the housing to accommodate the suspending switch. The front end of suspending switch has a through hole for the rule, while the two sides have resisting portions for resisting against the protecting disk covers. When the rule is pulled, if the suspending switch is pushed, then the movement of the rule may be suspended effectively.

    摘要: A tape measure with innovated brake structure characterized in that the brake mechanism comprises a release key, a brake, and a stopper. The upper end of the brake is in connection with the release key, and an intermediate protrusion of the brake directly presses its upper end so as to control the stopper able to be tightly pressing the tape surface against a stop block provided thereunder. By the above described structure, the user may press the release key with a finger to retract the extended tape after measurement work has been completed. When the release key is released, the brake actuates the stopper to directly press the tape surface against the stop block thereby halting the tape therebetween and the braking function is thus performed.

    摘要: A tape measure-type apparatus including a teardrop-shaped housing having a hollow interior. The housing has a rounded rear portion for storing a self-biased steel strip adapted to wind itself into a coil within the hollow interior of the rounded portion. The front portion of the housing is tapered in the form of a triangle whose base is the diameter through the center of the rounded portion and whose sides converge at the vertex to form the tape inlet/outlet opening. The edges of the housing along the triangular leg portions are relatively flat so that the apparatus can be laid on a flat surface on which length or distance is to be measured and used either right-side-up or up-side-down with equal facility for using either the top surface or the bottom surface of the tape strip for measurement purposes. In this matter, the top and bottom surfaces can be graduated in the same or different units adapted for one use on the top surface and a different and distinct use on the bottom surface. In the preferred embodiment, the graduations on the surfaces are adapted for use by airmen, pilots, navigators, seamen and the like. For example, both sides of the tape strip can be graduated in scales for measuring nautical miles, statute miles, and kilometers, and one side can be scaled for use with a conventional aeronautical chart such as a WAC chart while the other is scaled for use with a second different and distinct aeronautical chart or map having a different scale such as a SECTIONAL chart. A rod assembly is biased to a first position for normally gripping the edges of the tape for preventing it from automatically rewinding back up into a coil within the hollow interior. A push button portion of the rod assembly can be manually depressed for laterally shifting the rod assembly to a second position and releasing the tape to allow it to automatically rewind back up into the interior.
