Abstract: A design system of a progressive addition lens including a near portion for viewing a near distance, a distance portion for viewing a distance farther than the near distance, and an intermediate portion provided between the near portion and the distance portion and having a progressive refraction function, the design system of a progressive addition lens includes an aberration amount setting unit that sets an amount of transmission astigmatism Δβ[D] added to a progressive addition lens in such a way that when a wearer of the progressive addition lens α to which transmission astigmatism of an aberration amount Δα[D] is added is provided with the progressive addition lens β having different parameters, visual performance when the progressive addition lens β is worn approaches visual performance when the progressive addition lens α is worn.

Abstract: An optical zone forms a base surface of a spectacle lens and has a refractive power per a prescription. A functional zone surrounds a central optical zone of the spectacle lens and includes a plurality of functional sub-elements fitting with one another. Each of the functional sub-elements includes a first lens located in a central position and a plurality of second lenses around the first lens. Each of the second lenses has a surface shape of a regular polygon. The second lenses are in surface contact with one another via a surface where sides of the regular polygons are located. Wavefronts formed by the functional sub-elements can be superimposed on a working focal plane of the optical zone to form a uniform difussion circle that can form a blurred peripheral vision image. The spectacle lens can perform deep modulation for the imaging quality of the image plane on the retina.

Abstract: Described herein are systems and/or methods for forming an ophthalmic lens. An example method may comprise a step of determining a power profile based on a power profile function defined by a base optical power, an amount of spherical aberration at a radial distance from a geometric center of the lens, and a bump function. The example method may comprise a step of adjusting the power profile based at least on minimizing a shape metric of a through-focus curve.

Abstract: An ophthalmic lens comprising a front surface; a back surface; and one or more geometrically defined shapes and/or contour optical elements formed by changing the curvature of at least one of the front surface of the ophthalmic lens and/or a back surface of the ophthalmic lens; wherein the one or more geometrically defined shapes and/or contour optical elements on the surface of the ophthalmic lens are formed by applying a function to one or more parameters of the ophthalmic lens in a predefined region of the ophthalmic lens and in a predefined direction.
