摘要： The body of a still camera has a fixedly mounted socket for reception of the foot of a flashcube which is rotatable with reference to the socket in order to place successive lamps into an optimum position for illumination of the subject. The flashcube can be rotated by way of its foot or by way of its casing and the socket is provided with a detent structure which can yieldably hold the flashcube in a selected position. The means for rotating the flashcube constitutes the film transporting and/or the shutter actuating mechanism of the camera.

摘要： A still camera with an indexible socket for flashcubes of the type having cartridges which must be struck in order to fire the respective lamps. The cartridge for that lamp which faces the subject can be struck by the pin of an elastic impeller which is mounted in the housing and tends to maintain its pin in a retracted position. The base of the properly inserted flashcube depresses a shaft to stress an L-shaped leaf spring which is coupled to the shaft and to the impeller. A release element is movable with reference to the camera body to engage the impeller and to thereby move the spring from a first stable position through and beyond a neutral position so that the spring snaps over to assume a second stable position and to thereby propel the pin against the cartridge. The shaft can adjust the shutter in response to insertion of the base into the socket to select an exposure time which is best suited for the making of exposures with artificial illumination of the subject.

摘要： The synchronizing switch for an electronic flash unit, which is connected to the body of a photographic camera through the medium of an adapter, is closed with a variable delay following the actuation of camera release by way of an impeller which is mounted in the camera and normally serves to initiate the firing of flash lamps in an indexible flashcube or magicube. When the impeller moves to an extended position following the actuation of camera release, it rotates a driving member which is mounted in the housing of the adapter and is connected to or made integral with one end of a leaf spring. The other end of the leaf spring carries a weight whose inertia is such that, when the driving member is rotated by the impeller, the spring undergoes at least some deformation before the weight leaves its normal position and moves toward a second position in which it closes the synchronizing switch. The synchronizing switch has two normally separated contacts which are urged against each other when the weight reaches its second position. Alternatively, one contact of the switch may be electrically connected with the weight which consists of conductive material and engages the other contact as soon as it reaches the second position.

摘要： The device includes an ignition initiating member to be tensioned in operative relation to tensioning of a shutter opening member and locked in the tensioned position by two retaining members. Only when flashlight is required for taking a photograph, the ignition initiating member is disengaged from the first of the two retaining members by the movement of a member responsive to the brightness of the subject upon shutter release. In synchronism with the action of the shutter opening member, the ignition initiating member is further released from the second retaining member. The ignition initiating member functions to fire the flash bulb only when freed from engagement with both of the retaining members by effecting the striking of a piezoelectric element whose electrical output ignites the flash bulb or the striking of the leg of a percussion ignitable flash bulb.

In other embodiments, the percussive and piezoelectric firing means, blocking lever and flash actuating means are incorporated within adapters for use with cameras which have no flash capability or which are able to fire only one type of flash unit.

摘要： A rechargeable stroboscopic flash attachment adapted to be connected to a flashcube-receiving receptacle of a camera for actuating the shutter control mechanism. Contact members are also secured to the housing for engaging the electric contacts in the receptacle. An electronic time-delay for the circuit stroboscopic flashlamp effectively delays actuation of the flash unit so as to synchronize the flash unit with the timing induced by the shutter control mechanism. The time-delay circuit consists of a first resistor and capacitor connected in series, a second resistor shunted across the capacitor, and a third resistor connected between one terminal of the capacitor and a silicon control rectifier whereby a time delay in the operation of the flash unit is produced.

摘要： An adapter arrangement for use with a photographic flash firing circuit of a variety which monitors and senses the ignition of a flashlamp. Upon a successful such ignition, the firing circuit derives a unique output signal condition which is used for post exposure control purposes. The adapter arrangement permits such a circuit to be utilized for actuating an electronic flash unit or the like in place of typical flashlamps. To carry this out, an impedance having a resistance value closely related to that of an igniting flashlamp is incorporated in operational union with a switching arrangement. In one embodiment this impedance is combined with the winding of a relay. The relay serves to actuate the substitute lighting unit, while the resistive impedance serves to simulate the impedance of the igniting filament of a flashlamp. With the arrangement, therefore, the flash firing circuit is capable of developing a necessary unique output signal.
