摘要: Disclosed is a second toner developing apparatus for use in a two color electro-photographic recording apparatus in which a photosensitive drum is uniformly charged, subject to a first exposure, developed with a first toner, subject to a second exposure, and then developed with a second toner. The second developing apparatus is provided with a rotary sleeve for performing magnetic brush development and a fixed magnet disposed within the rotary sleeve. The fixed magnet includes a plurality of magnetic poles of the same polarity provided close to each other, so as to temporarily separate the second developer from the surface of the rotary sleeve at the position of these same polarity magnetic poles. An electrostatic attraction electrode attracts the first toner mixed in the thus separated second developer to thereby remove the first toner from the second developer.

摘要: An electrostatic photocopying apparatus has a charger adjacent to a photosensitive body, a retaining means for retaining and supplying image forming particles to the photosensitive body, a particle supply means for supplying the particles to the retaining means, and a single-layer producing means for applying to the image forming particles forces which are not sufficient to remove from the photosensitive body the image forming particles adhered directly to the photosensitive body, but are sufficient to remove the image forming particles attached in the second or higher layer thereover. The image forming particles can be evenly spread in one layer on the photosensitive body. Even if the photosensitive body is carried at high speed, the spreading operation can be carried out correspondingly. In addition, the starting and stopping of the spreading of the image forming particles can be easily performed and the amount of the image forming particles used can be reduced. In one embodiment, the retaining means is a multistylus electrode.

摘要: There is provided an electrostatic copying apparatus having means for delivering a toner material consisting of relatively small particles, a portion of which exist in an air suspension, to an image retention surface for developing a latent image on the surface, a housing for forming with the surface an enclosure for the toner material delivery means, said housing and said surface forming an air gap interface therebetween, and means positioned near said air gap interface for electrostatically precipitating and collecting the toner particles existing in air suspension thereby reducing the flow of particles from the housing through the interface. The toner particles cascaded over the surface are charged to a first polarity opposite to that of the image; the unwanted particles in air suspension have charges of both the first polarity and the opposite polarity. To attract the oppositely charged particles in air suspension the precipitating member, in the form of a roller, is held at a potential of the first polarity -- i.e., opposite to the image and the same as the cascading particles. The remaining suspended particles, those of the first polarity, are repelled by the roller and are attracted by the latent image on the surface in the same manner as the cascaded particles.

摘要: An electrophotographic copier is disclosed having a rotatable photoconductive drum, means to apply a uniform electrostatic charge pattern thereto, means to expose the uniform charge pattern to a light image of an original, and unique development, transfer and fusing systems. The development system is a high efficiency development system which increases the radial velocity components of developer over that normally associated with cascade development. The transfer and fusing system includes an elastomeric transfer belt, preferably having a low heat capacity and being formed from a silicone elastomer, operating in combination with a radiant fuser and a paper transport system which provides increased thermal efficiency. These systems interrelate to provide a copier which is compact, high speed, produces excellent quality copies and consumes lower amounts of power than are normally associated with high speed copiers.

摘要: A xerographic copying apparatus wherein the development unit employs a bucket conveyor for transport of a mixture of toner and carrier particles from a magazine to an elevated point prior to cascading the particles onto a travelling xerographic surface. The surplus of the mixture is returned into the magazine. The particle-contacting surfaces of the magazine and of all other parts which move relative to the particles (or vice versa) consist of highly conductive material and are connected to the ground. The particle-contacting surfaces of the buckets and all other parts which move with the particles consist of insulating material. This allows for more accurate control of the overall charge of the mixture.

摘要: Processes are provided for improving the mixing efficiency of carrier and toner in electrostatographic apparatus by causing a partial reverse cascade of developer from the buckets of a bucket-type conveyor in the electrostatographic developing apparatus prior to said developer cascading across the electrostatographic surface whereby developer falls back upon subadjacent buckets and mixes with toner newly deposited therein. An improvement in electrostatographic development apparatus is obtained by providing the buckets of the bucket-type conveyor of the development apparatus with a plurality of apertures in the posterior wall of each bucket thereby obtaining buckets adapted to allow a partial egress of developer from said apertures prior to said developer cascading across the electrostatographic surface whereby developer falls back upon subadjacent buckets and mixes with fresh toner released from the toner dispenser.

摘要: An apparatus for developing a surface bearing a latent electrostatic image to be developed wherein developer material is cascaded between the image bearing surface and a movable electrode member. The electrode member carries to the development zone a supply of toner particles on its surface which provides enhanced development results. As the carrier particles in the developer flow become depleted of toner in the development zone, the toner supplied by the endless electrode is attracted to the carrier for retonerization directly in the development zone. Also, the impact of the carrier upon the electrode releases toner from the electrode to effect enhanced development results with a relatively low flow of developer material.

摘要: Seal structure for xerographic developer apparatus. The development apparatus contemplated is of the type commonly referred to as a cascade development system wherein fine developer particles are moved in an upwardly direction and allowed to fall or be cascaded onto a xerographic surface and subsequently returned to the developer sump. The seal is characterized by being inflatable in order to block the space between the housing structure and the recording surface, after movement of the recording surface has commenced.
