    摘要: The width of a spacer which defines a gap between a development roller and an FPC is set to the width of a toner layer which is carried on the development roller or narrower. This prevents an edge portion of the spacer from getting deformed. In addition, as the spacer is made of a material whose work function is approximately the same as the work function of toner, it is possible to suppress disturbance of a surface potential of the toner layer. Further, for the purpose of maintaining the uniformity of the toner layer, it is desirable to restrict the amount of the toner on the development roller to a predetermined value or smaller.

    摘要: An image forming device includes a toner carrier (1) for holding and conveying charged toner (2), and a toner passage controller (3) including a plurality of holes (4) through which toner (2) is passed and control electrodes (10) disposed surrounding the holes. The control of passing of the toner (2) through the holes is effected by applying voltage to the control electrodes in accordance with image signals. The holes (4) have an elongated shape, with the length along a direction in which the toner carrier (1) moves being longer than the width orthogonal to the lengthwise direction, so that the consumption areas of toner (2) on the toner carrier (1) do not interfere with each other while the open area of the holes (4) is sufficiently secured.

    摘要: A recording apparatus of the present invention includes a bearing member for bearing a recording medium having toner and carrier and a backing electrode opposing to the bearing member for electrically attracting the toner on the bearing member. The toner and carrier are charged to opposite polarities. A substrate having a plurality of apertures is provided between the bearing member and the backing electrode. This allows the toner to propel from the bearing member toward the backing electrode. Further, both the toner and carrier have respective volume mean diameters smaller than a diameter of the apertures, and the volume mean diameter of the toner is larger than that of the toner. With the arrangement, the toner will propel through each aperture to form a corresponding image portion, i.e., dot, thereby forming a high quality image without any dot-defect.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus is described that records with the developer a desired image on a recording medium, which is transported in a transporting direction through a gap between a control electrode and a counter electrode, by supplying a potential to the control electrode based on image data and selectively permitting the developer to pass through gates. The control electrode is a flat-shaped member interposed between the developer carrier and the counter electrode. It has a pair of support regions that are spaced apart from a central region, one supporting region on each side of said central region in the transporting direction. A first support member has a first flat surface and a first fixing member that holds one support region of the control electrode member fixedly on said first flat surface and (2) a second support member has a second flat surface and a second fixing member that holds the other support region of the control electrode member fixedly on said second flat surface. An adjustment feature can be used for slightly deforming the supporting member in the transporting direction.
