摘要:
A system and method for creating a ring tone for an electronic device takes as input a phrase sung in a human voice and transforms it into a control signal controlling, for example, a ringer on a cellular telephone. Time-varying features of the input signal are analyzed to segment the signal into a set of discrete notes and assigning to each note a chromatic pitch value. The set of note start and stop times and pitches are then translated into a format suitable for controlling the device.

A system and methods analyze music to detect musical beats and to rectify beats that are out of sync with the actual beat phase of the music. The music analysis includes onset detection, tempo/meter estimation, and beat analysis, which includes the rectification of out-of-sync beats.

A digital system and method of operation is provided in which musical notes and melodies are synthesized. The operation done for music synthesis is based on time domain processing of prerecorded waveforms, referred to as analysis waveforms. The computations are done using time-marks, which is a set of digital sample positions of the analysis waveform indicating the starting position of each period of the fundamental frequency or an arbitrary position for non-periodic analysis waveforms. The algorithm defines on a time scale the time-marks of the synthesis waveform. The synthesis is based on making a relation between the analysis time-marks and the synthesis time-marks. The synthesis waveforms are built with the extraction of small portions of signal located at corresponding time-mark positions of the analysis waveform and adding them to the corresponding synthesis time-marks on the synthesis time-scale. This extraction is done with the multiplication of a windowing pattern, such as a cosinous Hanning window, to the analysis samples.

A method and an apparatus for producing a musical tone of the so-called partial tone synthesizing type are disclosed, in which the sampling frequencies are established with respect to the respective partial tone components to satisfy the sampling theorem, and the highest frequency among the sampling frequencies is used as a reference frequency. Ratios of sampling frequencies of respective partial tone components to the reference frequency are determined. A partial tone component having a ratio of one is calculated with one channel at a period corresponding to the reference frequency whereas a plurality of partial tone components each having a ratio of less than one are combined into a set wherein the sum of the ratios of the combined partial tone components does not exceed one and the plurality of partial tone components are calculated on the time division basis with one channel at periods corresponding to the respective sampling frequencies.

A method and apparatus are provided for changing the pitch of a tabulated waveform in wavetable based synthesizers. Harmonics that normally would be aliased before a transposition process are removed by a discrete time low pass filter at the same time that the tabulated waveform is reconstruction and resampling.

A method for shifting the timbre and/or pitch of an input signal samples the input signal at a first rate and stores the samples in a memory buffer. A digital signal processor resamples the stored input signal at a rate that differs from the first rate at which the input note is originally sampled and stores the resampled input signal in a second memory buffer. A pitch shifter shifts the pitch of the input signal by periodically scaling the resampled input signal by a window function to create an output signal. The rate at which the resampled data is replicated by the window function determines the pitch of the output signal.

A system and method are disclosed for independently adjusting the pitch and timbre of an input signal within a modified Lent shifter. A method of adjusting the pitch and timbre of an input signal includes receiving an input signal and determining a window length corresponding to the input signal. A finite length spectrally smoothed signal is created from the input signal by synchronously windowing the input signal. The timbre of the finite length spectrally smoothed signal is adjusted thereby creating a finite length timbre adjusted signal. The finite length timbre adjusted signal is recombined at a rate necessary to produce a desired output pitch thereby reducing artifacts introduced by processing the finite length timbre adjusted signal and minimizing latency between receiving the input signal and producing a desired output signal.
