The present invention has particular applicability to starter generators for helicopters having a body with an end bell, a commutator head assembly and a fan cover assembly, and wherein the starter generator does not have an end bell that permits air to exhaust through said end bell. The starter generator of the present invention has a commutator head assembly having a frame with a top end and a base end, the top end being adapted to fit within the fan cover assembly and be retained therein by a suitable means, the commutator head assembly having with a plurality of slots that are designed to exhaust air flow passing over one or more brushes in the starter generator.

    摘要: A brush holder apparatus and method for biasing a brush outwardly of a brush box. A brush box cover is slidingly disposed over an electrical cable along with a coil spring. Next, a brush shunt is electrically secured to an end portion of the electrical cable by a crimp member. The brush box cover is then slidably urged towards a brush secured at a terminal end of the brush shunt. This causes the brush shunt to be folded so as to place it in general longitudinal alignment and parallel with the electrical cable. The brush box cover is then further slid along the electrical cable, thus urging the spring over the brush shunt and into engagement with the brush electrically secured at the terminal (i.e., outer) end portion of the brush shunt. The brush box cover is further slid along the electrical cable until the crimp member and a portion of the brush shunt become wedgingly engaged in a portion of the brush box cover, to thereby hold the spring in a compressed condition between the brush box cover and the brush. Accordingly, there is no need to first compress the spring and hold the spring compressed while the brush shunt is attached to the electrical cable. The apparatus and method significantly eases the manner in which a brush holder may be assembled.

    摘要: A brush holder apparatus and method for biasing a brush outwardly of a brush box. A brush box cover is slidingly disposed over an electrical cable along with a coil spring. Next, a brush shunt is electrically secured to an end portion of the electrical cable by a crimp member.     摘要: The brush holding device includes a brush box formed into a tubular shape, having opposite open ends, and being slidably provided in a hollow portion thereof with a brush. A cap is capped onto one end portion of the brush box to block the end portion, and for receiving a reaction force of a brush spring to bring the brush into sliding contact with a commutator. A projecting portion is provided on the cap to engage a portion of the brush box, so that side walls of the brush box can be prevented from deflecting inwardly. A frame portion of the cap may be coupled onto the outer periphery of the rear end portion of the brush box.

    摘要: An electrical cord roll-up apparatus has a stationary assembly and a reel assembly that rotably mounts on the stationary assembly. The stationary assembly has a shaft, an insulator on the shaft, axially spaced rings on the insulator and a power input or output cord that connects to the rings. The reel assembly has a reel tube with side flanges on the ends and brush assemblies mounted on the tube in alignment with the rings. The brush assemblies have copper or brass brushes that are pressed against the rings by compression springs, and connectors for connecting to the wires of the electrical cord. Rotating the reel one direction winds the electrical cord onto the reel and rotating the reel in the opposite direction unwinds the electrical cord.
