    摘要: An insulation-displacement connection having at least one insulation-displacement element (1) with a retaining slot (5), which cuts through an insulation of an electrical conductor with which electrical contact is to be made by the insulation-displacement element (1), in a sleeve body is described. The retaining slot (5) extends continuously from an insertion opening in a longitudinal direction (L) of the sleeve body. The sleeve body has a crosspiece (2) which has two mutually opposite spring limbs (3a, 3b) integrally adjoining its ends, which spring limbs merge, at their end which is opposite the crosspiece (2), into limb ends (4a, 4b), which are angled-away so as to face one another, in order to form the retaining slot (5) by way of the free longitudinal side edges of the limb ends (4a, 4b), so that a conductor accommodation space which is bounded by the spring limbs (3a, 3b) and the crosspiece (2) is created beneath the retaining slot (5). The spring limbs (3a, 3b) in each case have at least one slot recess (9a, 9b) which extends in the direction of the limb end (4a, 4b) from the crosspiece (2), the width of the said slot recess being matched over the direction of extent to the width of the spring limbs (3a, 3b) such that an effective width of the spring limbs (3a, 3b), which tapers from the crosspiece (2) to the longitudinal side edge of the limb ends (4a, 4b), is produced in the longitudinal direction (L).

    摘要: An electrical connector that includes an electrical contact, a first housing adapted to receive the contact, and a second housing adapted to receive a cable. The configuration of the first and second housings and the contact are such that, during assembly of the connector, the second housing guides the cable to abut the contact in such a manner that the contact displaces an insulating layer of the cable and forms an electrical connection with a wire core of the cable. The first housing has a first gripping surface and the second housing has a second gripping surface, the gripping surfaces being arranged to face away from each other and to face perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the cable prior to assembly, such that the surfaces can be gripped by a thumb and forefinger and squeezed together to effect assembly.

    摘要: An electronic component is disclosed wherein the electronic component includes an insulation displacement connector for electrically connecting the electronic component to at least one external wire by displacing insulation from and contacting a conductor of the external wire. The insulation displacement connector can include a plurality of contacts electrically connected to the electronic component at one end thereof, and structure for displacing insulation from an external wire so that the external wire is placed in electrical communication with the conductive contact member at another end thereof. By locating the plurality of contact members closely adjacent each other, the insulation displacement connector can be engaged with a ribbon cable having a plurality of external wires, so that each contact is selectively engaged with an individual external wire in the ribbon cable. A cover can be provided which is removably engageable over the ribbon cable to lock the ribbon cable to the insulation displacement connector with the external wires of the ribbon cable electrically connected to the insulation displacement connector. Attachment structure can be provided on, for example, a lower surface of a hollow body to which the electronic component is mounted, for attaching the hollow body, and thus the electrical component, to any surface.

    摘要: A multigauge-multiwire terminal includes a first split cylinder portion providing a pair of jaws defining a continuous wire receiving slot and a second rib cage portion providing a plurality of opposing resilient ribs aligned to provide a discontinuous slot. In use a wire is inserted laterally of its length into the continuous slot, the jaws of which slice through the insulation on the wire and grippingly engages it. The insertion of another wire displaces the first inserted wire into the discontinuous slot in which it is gripped by the opposing ribs which generally provide for a three point contact with the conductor portion.
