    摘要: A packet scheduler controls dispatch of packets containing constant bit rate (CBR) or real time variable bit rate (rt-VBR) at an ingress operation of multiplexing the packets into payloads of an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) bearer virtual circuit connection. Packets can be queued in one of a number of queues according to priority. The scheduler controls assembly of common part sublayer payload data units (CPS-PDU) comprising any unused octets from a previous packet partially dispatched, and whole packets in order of priority. If a holdover timer period expires before a common part sublayer payload data unit is completed, the payload of that data unit is packed with null data; and dispatched. The packet dispatch is controlled so as to match the traffic characteristics of an underlying bearer channel.

    摘要: A cell switching method and system are disclosed that divide an input ATM cell into ATM adaptation layer (AAL) 2-type common part sublayer (CPS) packets. The divided CPS packets are stored in different first storage areas, in accordance with virtual paths/virtual channels (VPs/VCs) of the respective CPS packets, and identifiers of the first storage areas are also stored. The stored CPS packets are read in the order of the stored first identifiers. Thereafter, the read CPS packets are stored in second storage areas, in accordance with respective CIDs, and second identifiers of the second storage areas are stored. The CPS packets stored in the second storage areas are read in the order of the stored second identifiers and multiplexed to generate ATM cells.

    摘要: Described embodiments provide for a reassembly system for processing an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) cell of data into an ATM adaptation layer (AAL) packet. A preprocessor module identifies a first conversation identification of one or more minipackets in the ATM cell, and reassembles the one or more minipackets having the first conversation identification into a portion of the AAL packet. A preprocessor determines if a trigger has occurred. In response to a trigger, the preprocessor sends a portion of the reassembled minipackets having the first conversation identification to a destination processor.
