摘要： The apparatus of the invention is applied to a case of folding, for example, the sleeve cloth of short-sleeved T-shirt in half while conveying. A holding device grips the leading end of the cloth conveyed on a conveying surface of narrow conveyor belts, lifts the gripped leading end of the cloth from the conveying surface, and holds it above the conveying surface temporarily. A cloth stopping device stops conveying of the front side portion of the conveyed cloth on the conveying surface at a position of an upstream side in the conveying direction from the holding device. When cloths are put on the conveying surface by overlaying mutually in part, a space is formed between the preceding cloth and succeeding cloth by the cloth stopping device, so that the leading end of the cloth is gripped and lifted by the holding device.

摘要： A sewing machine for simultaneously forming a plurality of spaced seams disposed in parallel relation. The machine includes a pair of spaced needle bars and needle clamps for supporting stitching needles. Adjacent each needle bar a presserfoot bar is provided for supporting separate presserfoots on their lower ends. Below each presserfoot there is a cooperating feed dog and below each feed dog a separate looper for controlling the lower threads during the formation of chain stitches. To form the stitches simultaneously, all of the machine's stitching instrumentalities, including the stitching needles, presserfeet, feed dogs and loopers, are operatively interconnected so that their movements occur at the same time.

In order to sew in an edge-parallel manner with an automatic guidance, workpieces made from soft materials with curved or angular seam courses, may be turned responsive to air nozzles directed in acutely-angled manner on to the supporting plate. The air nozzles are arranged tangentially, and in spaced manner, with respect to the needle.

摘要： A combination stitching system including a pneumatic sensing apparatus which operates to assure the presence of a material to be stitched is in a proper location before machine operation is possible is disclosed. The combination system comprises a machine (10) for stitching or sewing a material (30) with thread (26). At least one reciprocating needle (12) receives thread (26) through an aperture (28) for stitching the material (30). A power source (20) is connected by a drive linkage (18) which includes a clutch (21) and which provides reciprocating motion to needle (12). The clutch (21) operates to selectively connect and disconnect the power source from the reciprocating needle (12) by means of an activating means (22). To assure that the reciprocating needle operates only when a work piece (30) is in a position to be stitched, there is also included a pneumatic sensing apparatus (32). Pneumatic sensing apparatus (32) includes a source of pressurized air (34) which is connected to a air gap means (38), an air jet nozzle (40), and a control valve (42). The air gap means (38) operates so that a stream of air is ejected across an open area of the air gap means such that pressurized air from source (34) is provided through the air gap means to the control valve (42). When the air pressure is provided to control valve (42), air pressure is then made available to the actuating means (22) to activate the clutch (21). Air jet nozzle (40) is located in position so that a high pressure jet of air (64) is directed to impinge upon the air stream (50) of air gap means (38).

摘要： Stocking toe end closing apparatus of the type having a series of horizontal stocking turning tubes mounted on a rotatable base for indexing to a position for spreading stocking toe ends carried on the supports, and for further indexing to a seaming position where the stocking toe ends are closed. The turning tubes are connected to a suction source at index positions before and after the spreading and closing positions for everting stockings thereat. Spreading fingers are inserted into the open free ends of the supported stockings at the spreading position and expand through longitudinal slots in the tubes for lateral spreading of the stocking toe ends to a width suitable for seaming, and the fingers are then moved away from the support end in a diagonal direction with respect to the elongation of the tubes in synchronism with the index motion of the tube, so that the stocking toe end is carried by the fingers to a position where the fingers and the toe end extremity lie beyond an arcuate clamp which then engages the widespread toe end in position for rotation of the clamp and the toe end extremity past a sewing machine for closing. Tubular guards with matching longitudinal slots are provided for exposing alignment and shielding non-alignment with the slots in the tube ends to prevent interference with the everting of stockings by the tube end slots. Exhaust air produced from the same suction source that provides suction for everting stockings is passed through a nozzle adjacent the clamp onto the toe end extremity for directing it into the sewing machine. The clamp rotates in reverse direction after seaming to pay out the stocking which has wrapped partly around it during seaming, in synchronism with the index motion of the stocking support away from the seaming position. An endless belt is supported in deflected engagement with the stocking tube at the seaming index position, and during a portion of its index motion to and away from that position, as a means of restraining the stocking from sliding off the support as it is partially withdrawn for positioning the toe end at the sewing machine and by wrapping around the clamp during seaming.

摘要： Automated machine and method for closing the toe ends of an otherwise completed panty hose type garment, by seams which are inside the toes when the finished garment is right side out. The machine consists basically of a garment input section, toe closing section and discharge section. The input section includes means for mounting the garment and then advancing the toe ends of its leg portions to the toe closing section, preparatory to closing the toes. The toe closing section includes a seaming device forming identical seams in the toe ends of the garment by a chain of stitches, an automatic trimmer for cutting the chain of stitches close to the toe fabrics and toe fabric clamping assemblies to deliver the toe ends to the seaming device. The discharge section includes means for receiving the garment, following the toe closing operation, and for the removal of the finished garment, right side out, from the machine in completed condition ready for packaging. The method of the invention is carried out in timed sequence at high speed to produce a finished panty hose type garment in which the toe ends of both legs have been closed by precisely controlled toe closing operations to produce identical toe closing results in the garment.

摘要： A lockseamer mechanism for trimming the free edge of cloth is disclosed, whereby a composite of knitted or woven cloth for men and women can now be easily fabricated at a high speed without requiring the full time attendance of a shopworker. A lockseamer generally employs three independent threads which are supplied to conventional sewing machine needles. Cloth to be lockseamed along a lengthwise edge is first led to an initial guide gauge having a guiding edge and made of stainless steel sheet. Adjacent thereto a principal guide gauge is provided and has a guide edge adapted to handle any type of curve, including outside curve and inside curve, as well as straight edges. A pair of high pressure jet nozzles are provided to press the cloth sideways against the guide edges. Electric eyes, responsive to the incoming cloth, actuate a third nozzle to advance the cloth towards the sewing machine needle. When lockseaming of the cloth is completed, the thread is automatically cut off and the cloth is moved and then removed from the edge of the sewing table.
