摘要： A tube transport assembly is provided for individually transporting tubes of the type onto which yarn is wound on a textile machine. The tube transport assembly includes magnetic components for guiding and transporting the tube support members along a transport path by magnetic interaction with ferromagnetic portions of the tube support members. The magnetic components can be configured as electromagnets or as permanent magnets. The transport path includes a junction at which the tube support members can be individually branched onto a branch path and a magnetic component is positioned adjacent the junction for selectively magnetically engaging the tube support members to guide the tube support members along to selected branch paths. A vertical transport component includes magnetically active carrier members mounted on an endless belt and is operable to magnetically engage and carry the tube support members vertically.

摘要： A method and apparatus for automatically removing and collecting in an orderly fashion fully-spun cops from a plurality of textile ring spinning machines wherein each ring spinning machine has a longitudinal conveyor for transporting doffed cops to one machine end and a movable cart is provided for transverse travel between the corresponding machine ends for collection of doffed cops from the machine conveyors. The cart carries a plurality of cop magazines and an associated means for automatically depositing cops into a magazine in a cop receiving position. Means are provided for automatically receiving and delivering doffed cops from the machine conveyors to the cop depositing means and means are further provided for automatically positioning the magazines one-by-one in proper cop receiving position with respect to the cop depositing means.

摘要： An apparatus for sorting spent tubes as they are carried on an intermittently advancing conveyor with the apparatus having a tube ejecting device that reciprocates along the length of tubes during dwells in conveyor movement and has a tube contacting element that slides along clean surfaces of the tubes without causing ejection but engages any residual windings of yarn on tubes to thereby force the tubes with residual windings to move longitudinally and out off the conveyor. The tube contacting element has a base portion with resilient flat teeth projecting therefrom longitudinally with respect to the tubes and in the direction of tube ejecting movement. The base portion is a flat resilient plate from which the teeth project at an inclination toward the tube surface for resilient biasing thereagainst to facilitate engagement of residual windings thereon and resulting ejection of tubes with yarn windings while allowing clean tubes to remain on the conveyor.

摘要： A canister for holding a stack of floppy disks, during manufacture of diskettes, or during storage and shipment of the disks. The canister is impervious to ultraviolet radiation, and comprises a base and a deep cup-shaped cover which latches to the base during storage and/or shipment, and which is removed after the canister's base is coupled to the proper input station of a diskette manufacturing machine. The canister is adapted to hold disks of a number of different types, but all of the same size. For example, disks which have been burnished, but not tested, and disks which have been both burnished and tested are different type disks. The canister base is different colored, in accordance with the type disk which is to be held by the base. Also, the base carries a unique bar code and a unique mechanical interlock wall which identify the type disk to be held by the base. This bar code and mechanical interlock prevent coupling of an improper type disk's canister base to a given manufacturing machine input station.

摘要： The apparatus has two pairs of long driven nip rolls on which bobbins with residual roving are advanced axially in a row with the nip rolls engaging the ends of residual roving and unwinding the roving into a delivery plenum therebelow through which the roving is drawn by suction to the surface of a rotating perforated delivery drum through which the suction is drawn to retain the roving thereon as the drum rotates the roving to a discharge plenum in which a shredding drum shreds the roving for discharge in pieces through a discharge plenum. A perforated baffle plate is mounted closely adjacent the delivery drum to confine suction through the drum and to allow suction to be drawn through the plate into the drum. The perforated baffle plate extends adjacent the shredding drum to confine the roving thereto and for suction to be drawn therethrough to direct the roving to the shredding drum. The bobbins advance from the rolls onto a support on which a feeler finger extends at an inclination toward the bobbins to sense residual roving on bobbins. An arm acts in response to the sensing to remove the bobbin with the sensed roving from the line. The feeler finger is deactivated when the leading end of a bobbin passes the finger in response to the trailing end of a bobbin dropping into a downwardly offset section of the support spaced a bobbin length from the finger.

摘要： To provide yarn cops to textile machines in predetermined, uniform alignment and orientation of the yarn cops, typically to supply yarn cops to spooling or spinning machines, the diameter of the core ends of the yarn cops is sensed and a difference signal obtained. This difference signal is stored, mechanically or electrically and, when a cop is required to be fed to the spinning machine, the stored difference signal is transferred to an orientation alignment apparatus, typically a pair of pins which retain the cop in horizontal position and, upon withdrawal of a selected one of the pins, permit the cop to drop into a delivery chute, selectively, with the selected end first, to deliver the cop in properly oriented alignment to the textile machine, that is, typically to the spooling or spinning machine.
