    Abstract: An improved design of positioning mechanism, mountable to an upright, allows smooth, readily accomplished adjustment of the angular, rotational and translational positions of a boom with respect to the upright. A hub is mounted to and rotatable with respect to a base. A friction plate between the base and the hub applies frictional forces that are established by the mechanism, by urging the hub and base together. A pressure sleeve partially contained in a matching opening in the hub controls the rotational and longitudinal movement of the boom with respect to the hub. The design of the frictional engagement surfaces allows adjustment of the resistance to movement of the boom in the angular, rotational and translational directions to extend smoothly and predictably from a condition of virtually no resistance to a completely locked and rigid condition.

    Abstract: A coupling apparatus for adjustably mounting modular tooling members having a base member releasably connectable to a slide mount wherein the base member is adjustably located along a predetermined linear path of travel defined by the slide mount. The contoured surfaces are substantially circular having V-shaped teeth extending radially outward. The midportion may also be rotatably adjustable with respect to an end member along a second centerline axis.     Abstract: An implement-positioning apparatus used on an implement-towing vehicle such as a tractor includes a draft arm, a lift link, and a mechanism coupling the arm and the link together. The mechanism selectively permits floating arm movement (and therefore floating implement movement) relative to the link. In the improvement, the mechanism includes a clevis-like attachment member fixed on the link and having two arms, each with a slot extending therealong. A pivot-mounted selection member is coupled to the attachment member by a pin through the slots and moves between a first position engaging the attachment member and a second position away from the attachment member.     Abstract: An articulated conduit joint (8) includes first and second arms (10, 12), defining first and second passages (106), pivotally coupled by a main clutched joint (14) for movement of the arms about a joint pin (78) defining a first axis (20). The main clutched joint includes a generally open central portion (70) located between first and second end portions (72, 74). Clutch plates (82, 84) in the first end portion are alternately keyed to the first end portion and the joint pin. A compression spring (100) within the second end portion biases the joint pin along the first axis and forces the clutch plates against one another. The first and second end portions are integral with the first and second arms so that relative pivotal movement of the arms about the first axis is frictionally resisted by the clutch plates sliding against one another. One or both of the arms may include a hollow arm extension (22) housed within an arm body (16) for movement about a second axis (24) passing along the passage within the arm. Clutch plates (32, 34) are keyed to the arm extension and the arm body in an alternating fashion and are biased against one another to provide frictional resistance to rotation of the arm extension within the arm body.
